When they aren’t threatening a coup, the Fijian military is apparently training with the Mongolians. BTW, I’m not sure about you, but I find this all very bizarre—coup leaders don’t usually tell everyone they’re coming, do they?

I actually ran into some Fijian soldiers while they were training in Mongolia last summer. The girlfriend and I went out to an old run down army camp North of Ulaan Bataar, paid 20 bucks to drive a T-55, and while we were waiting for the Mongolian soldiers, who I think were running this whole business under the table, I struck up a conversation with two Fijian sergeants who were manning the front gate. Nice guys.
Here’s a link to a video of said tank driving. Highly recommended for anyone who gets up to Ulaan Bataar – just talk to Bolod at Bolod’s guesthouse.
