In the latest SeoulStyle newsletter, T. Evans writes of his bizarre experience of having a girl try to get him deported for refusing her affections.
At any rate, it’s entertaining to read.
As expat urban legend would have it, bitter ex-girlfriends are the biggest reason for foreigners getting deported. In 10 years that I’ve been here, however, I’ve never known anyone that this has happened to.

Change that to “bitter wives” and, well, I can’t tell you
Could it be that this guy’s real girlfriend is just jerking his chain to give him a good ‘kyoyooking” on the subject of fidelity. Korean women are like cats, they like to play with their victims before finally devouring them.
ah, thanks, that reminds me, I haven’t checked the bitter girls photos in a couple of months.

Private Classes? That was just a cover up. The real reason why I am reporting him to the authorities is well… he said he was a surfer stud from California but who the hell is he kidding with words like “whilst” and “learnt”. Go back to Cumbernauld, Winchester UK, or where the hell you are from!
What I find interesting, having heard this sort of thing before, is the general confidence among Koreans that they can have a foreigner deported at will.
this reminds me of a post i came across on Dave’s ESL.

very entertaing in a similar theme. maybe this guy is dealing with a mole.
True story status. A friend dumped his Korean girl and she called the cops. “Habitual marijauna user”, she claimed. Cops picked him up and he had to submit a urine sample. He didn’t pee hot. It had been a dry spell.
Urban legend status. Whilst living in Taiwan I often heard the cautionary tale about a jilted female who paid some hoodlums to emasculate her foreign ex-boyfriend.
Whoa, that is bad. The story makes sense, though. All you need to do to a foreigner to get him bad is to call the school and start making complaints, threaten to tell parents, ect.
it happened to me.. fortunately I had already signed a contract with a new university so I had to leave but was able to come right back. Had to pay 500,000 too. But that was just the beginning of my ex’s revenge. It got much worse.
He’s been trapped…There’s no way out of it. He’s gotta marry his girlfriend now.
Ha ha ha ha. Korean chicks, hard to believe. It’s all fun and games until somebody lands up in jail.
Back in 2000, there was a Canadian guy who liked to get around. Seems he was dating a Korean Singapore Airlines flight attendant, whom he introduced the joys of Western culture. You know, sex all night, and little but a pot, but in the case of Korea, a little bit of hash. Like so many international dating experiences, it eventually went down the tubes. In an effort to get her own back, she called the cops who busted down the door and arrested all three English teachers who were living there, including a woman who was soon released. The two dudes, however, did 10 long weeks in AnYang prison before being deported. What did the cops find after breaking down the door and arresting them? According to my information, they found 1/2 gram of hash, barely enough for a party amongst a small group of friends
The moral of this story is, don’t let Korean girls in too close in an effort to woo them. You may think that you’re increasing your chances of getting their pants off by showing them how cool you are, how you can smoke pot like in the movies she has only seen, and leave her wondering what kind of connections you have to get such material. However, all you’re doing is giving her plenty of ammunition to do her worst to you when the relationship goes into the shitter.
Don’t believe me? Ask yourself if you are willing to do 10 weeks in an unheated Korean prison just to impress some girl you’re on a date with.
Exseoulman, wouldn’t it be simpler to just follow the law? Seoul and Pusan aren’t Vancouver and St-John’s, you know.
2 rules:
1) It’s always the women’s fault
2) The guy never did anything wrong
Give me a freakin’ break. The loser was caught going behind his girlfriend’s back. The least he could have done is said to his girlfriend “um, we haven’t seen each other in a while, so I’m assuming you broke up with me”.
As for all the other “Korean women screwed me over” stories, I’m sure there are a fair number of unbalanced women out there. However, it seems the finger of blame rarely gets pointed at the guy for the jerky stuff he did.
How about 2 new rules (in order):
1) Respect
2) Know whose pants you’re trying to take off
just date the married ones, they’ll never complain to the cops.
A site should be created for lonely married Korean women!
