kpmsprtd:

I could be wrong about the name, time is having its affect on memory, but the Goldenwave played dance and pop music. It located about half way down fish alley and was upstairs on the east side.

I too would drop by the Silverwave every now and then to enjoy the wall-of-noise ambiance.

Face the truth. Every old bastard on this list has fond memories of Boney M.

Irrawaddy, I would guess that we crossed paths in Anjeong-ni in 1978.

I don't recall Steve's Golden Wave Club in Itaewon. My hangout there was the Silver Waves Club (Ozzie Osbourne's Crazy Train, Ted Nugent's Great White Buffalo, etc.), probably one of the reasons for my high-noise exposure hearing loss. Still, I did occasionally swallow my pride and head over to the King Club to dance with the kindergarten teachers just like everybody else.

Mr. Monkey? Better not to even mention that song's name lest we contribute to an evil resurrection.

"Hello Mr. Monkey," the kiddies used to sing it to me as I passed them in the street. Two years ago I was at Kyoungju and a friggin' 40-something ajumma started singing it to me. In the grotto.

And having nothing to do with Genghis Khan or Moscow, Baccara's 1977 hit <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYnydJigYp8" rel="nofollow">"Yes sir, I can boogie"</a>. Disco Night w/ the salaryman. Powder blue suits, white socks, and size 6 shoes that made them 5 centimeters taller.
