Kang Chol-hwan was named a Time ‘hero,’ too?

by Robert Koehler on November 8, 2006

Interesting exercise in headline scanning:

By glancing at the headlines of most major papers yesterday, you would have learned that late Hyundai president Chung Ju Yung and late artist Nam June Paik were named to Time Asia’s list of “60 Years of Asian Heros.”

What you wouldn’t have known is that North Korean defector Kang Chol Hwan also made the list. Want proof? Take a look at the headlines yourself.

Odd. Very odd.

The articles themselves note Kang’s selection, of course. Just not the headlines.

Also making the list, BTW, were General Douglas MacArthur and actress Gong Li.

(HT to One Free Korea for pointing out that Kang was selected to the “Heros” list)

Good thing voting wasn’t open to netizens, numbers one to sixty would have been Korean popstars. ;)

His mum was a hooker i could believe, a Filipino one maybe
But his dad a ladyman as well, only that could explain what a deranged cunt he was
Albeit full blooded Asian

thank god for US publications masquerading as international ones
