Jun Ji-hyun as Japanese vampire?

jun_ji_hyun.jpgThe Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Korean super-hottie Jun Ji-hyun will star as a demon-hunting, U.S. government-employed Japanese vampire in Hong Kong director Ronnie Yu’s upcoming film “Blood Vampire,” an English-language remake of the Japanese anime film “Blood: The Last Vampire” (see official site here).

And there was much rejoicing.

    I shudder to speculate.

“Weird. Whats wrong with being a Korean vampire hunter?”

Then nobody will watch it. Have “Japan” in the title somewhere, then all of a sudden it’s a fantastic movie, a must see.

    Check that title, Mr. Marmot.

Sort of like going to a “Tokyo Massage” or “Osaka Spa” in the States…chances are you won’t find any Japanese inside.

Regardless, if they need anyone extra to play Simon Belmont and drive a stake through her, sign me up.

Ummm, it’s a re-make of a JAPANESE comic book… so obviously the lead character must be Japanese, even if the actress isn’t. Otherwise what would be wrong with a Chinese Geisha?

…or for that matter, a Welsh James Bond? or a British French captain of the Enterprise? …or… whatever. Who cares about an actress of one nationality playing a character of another?

Merely an expression Mr. Marmot. She could suck-start a Harley, suck the chrome off of a bumper-hitch, you get the drift….

I really love her, but I don’t think she’ll succeed.

Being able to speak perfect American English accent is half the battle.

She is a cute as a bug. I hope she is successful in the American market. She is bringing down $5 million a year here so even if she fails she can have a very nice life. That being said the stars tend to burn-out in Korea sooner than they so stateside.

One doesn’t have to speak perfect American English to suck the rattle out of a rattlesnake’s mouth.

(Just made that one up. Sorry if it, um, sucks.)

Or they hook up with the elderly head of a conglomerate, have his love child, and are given a textile factory to “run”.
