Sorry Baduk....but when the Koreans get here, they'll find the Filipinos have already taken over. Every other young "ethnic" artist or actress that comes out seems to be half or one-fourth Filipino.

One of them already got to me...

I also know that when a dissenting voice has to rely more on knee-jerk ad hominem smear (such as you) rather than actually offering a counterpoint backed by substantial reasoning, informed opinion, and generally acknowledged observation, then I know that whatever I said is valid because it’s touching some raw nerves and only truth can do that.

You spew off-topic gibberish and insults and demand " substantial reasoning, informed opinion, and generally acknowledged observation"? You are worse than I give you credit for.

Is it just me, or does Moon Bloodgood look like a different person in every picture you've linked? On thing for sure, she looks an awful lot better with makeup and dark hair than without any make up with blonde hair.

"she married writer-director Alexander Payne and their first film together was the Oscar-winning Sideways (2004)"

That explains it. I was watching the movie and wondering how she got the role that is plainly written for a white female. Sandra Oh can act but the role was not her.

"They willingly shell out big money to have those stupid double-eyelid surgeries done and whatever"

Even the president of Korea, pres. Rho, got the surgery with a flimsy excuse that his eyelids were drooping. The funny thing was that his wife got the surgery at the same time. She said, "I will look out of place when only my hubby has a double eyelid (and look good)". This shows where she is at, and blows her hubby's excuse right out of water.

Pres. Rho will be remembered as the president who got the cometic surgery in the office while screwing up everything a president was supposed to do.

With all due respect, Slim, I realize that I may be wrong or maybe I'm not. But just because certain things do not comfortably sit well with your own acceptable worldview does not necessarily mean it's wrong, just different. I say a lot of controversial things, yes. The world is a funny place. The difference between me and a polite person is that I'm more than willing to openly discuss taboos, upturn sacred cows, and expose things that others are afraid to touch.

I also know that when a dissenting voice has to rely more on knee-jerk ad hominem smear (such as you) rather than actually offering a counterpoint backed by substantial reasoning, informed opinion, and generally acknowledged observation, then I know that whatever I said is valid because it's touching some raw nerves and only truth can do that.

Every day brings a new realm of human endeavor in which bluejives is FULL OF SHIT about but not shy about sharing "wisdom": North Korea, neocons, Hollywood, American society...

He could have just conceded that, OK, Sandra Oh might indeed have gotten where she is by dint of talent, in the absence of the glamor and looks we conventionally associate with entertainment success. Instead, we get yellow fever fetishes (for ugly women, no less), pointless crap about Oprah and self-help....

With all due respect, what may be therapeutic to bluejives looks a hell of a lot like masturbatory trolling to me.

Does anyone really believe that Hollywood actors/actresses don't visit the doctors office for little nips and tucks? If you believe that, I got a bridge over San Francisco that I can sell you.

I guess she’ll have to start wearing her Canada backpack around if you and the Chosun Ilbo are ever to understand that she’s Korean Canadian, not Korean American.

I understand that Canucks are somewhat sensitive about being mistaken for American, despite the fact that truckloads of Canadian entertainers have a demonstrated tendency border-hop towards the direction of less snow for better opportunities in Ho-wood. But the last time I checked on a map, Canada does sit somewhere on a land mass called North America, which in turn is part of the overall Americas, and besides, Canadiens are effectively Americans anyways, they just happen to have a funny accent and enjoy universal healthcare (which we dont), so if one is not a Canadian, one does not really give a crap about that.

Imagine, rising to the top without having to butcher your face and mounting every sojo stained casting couch around. It can be done. Just not here.

Well, what can I say? I guess Koreans are realists. In America, there is a thriving industry in self-deception. It goes by different names: self-help books, Oprah, psychiatry, self-esteem boost motivational seminars, you get the drift. Retarded kids are encouraged to think they're smart, when they're not. Poor people of all sorts are encouraged to think that they too have what it takes to start their own business making hundreds of thousands of dollars, they just need to make a little mental "paradigm shift". This is also where all the catchy, truth-warping phrases come from: like, blue is the new black, fat is the new skinny, 30s is the new 20s, 20s is the new teens, teens is the new ones, ones is the new zeros, etc.

In Korea, fat is still fat, 30s is still 30s, skinny is skinny, beautiful is still beautiful and ugly is ugly.

Now art reflects life and vice versa, no? No one forces many thousand of South Korean women to butcher their faces. They willingly shell out big money to have those stupid double-eyelid surgeries done and whatever, in order to conform to what the media/fashion people/magazines/society says is beautiful. It's a huge industry. It's so bad that even some men are doing it also. Media is only offering a reflection of society. You cant really blame this on male privilege because legions of women are consciously choosing to do it to themselves and thereby reinforcing a larger, darwinian vicious cycle. If thousands of SK women woke up one day and said, "hey! I'm tired of all this bullshit. Why the hell should I...", then it can all be different. But Korean women make poor feminists and the average Korean woman is not much of an independent thinker anyhow, by Western standards anyway, so the lemmings do what they will.
