Well, someone needs to pop a Happy Pill

The National Post’s Andrew Coyne is damn-near apocalyptic in condemning the West’s lack of gumption in the wake of North Korea’s nuclear test.

The US press seems currently filled to the brim with chicken littles, doomsday preachers, smug i-told-you-so’s, the inevitable partisan finger-pointing bushwacking, bombastic regurgitators of nothing new, and a hold lot of hand-wringing. Meanwhile, in the street, people are saying “North Korea? That’s not like near Vietnam, is it?”

The guy makes sense to me. The notion that we somehow “lost” North Korea (by saying mean things like “axis of evil”) just when the Agreed Framework looked like it was going to work is ridiculous.

    Bluejives,

it pleases me to end that I don’t have to put up with tabloidesque yellow american news media here. It’s been worthless for quite a long while, since OJ Simpson I recall. There is no realistic portrayal of news, no broad indepth coverage, just loud intro music some stupid graphic and the same thing said over and over in the form of everything you just said (chicken littles et al.).

It made me want to vomit when Shelton recomended we “keep tabs on the American media”…. as if they know anything.

Uh, I can’t believe no one noticed, but Andrew Coyne is a Canadian writer and the National Post is a Canadian newspaper.

    CorpyCarly,

You’re right, to be honest I didn’t even read the article… bluejives just kinda kicked me off on a rant aout the US media there.

Upon RTFA it its not that bad, and find myself agreeing with him. I was certainly dissapointed by the sanctions proposed by the US.

btw: I may as well post this here, it’s political, and not really any sort of food for thought (well, thought for the idiots who post on youtube), but as far as being Zavid Zucker slapschtick and related to North Korea, it’s worth a chuckle.

Haha, got a laugh out of that one, especially the part with Albright’s pants busting wide open. Was that produced as an actual campaign ad? Gotta love Zucker.

Korea appears in the US news once again - as it does once a year - whenever Koreans - North or South do something notably stupid. I say “notably stupid” because most everything in Korea is stupid but little in this irrelevent little Liliputian “nation” actually captures American attention. Now, a tiny atom bomb by a tiny dicked clown that the whole world snickers at (Kim Il Sung - not Roh Mu Hyeon - whom nobody outside Korea knows…) is hilarious enough to capture headlines. The last time I mentioned I was from Korea I was asked if that was North or South Korea, and I have to give the guy credit for at least having heard of this peanut of a county. If not for Kim Il Seoung, few people would have ever heard of Korea at all.

That piece is spot on and before commenting further on this week’s events, EVERYONE should memorize this paragraph:

“Well of course it did, unless you recall that the North Korean nuclear program has been in the works for at least 30 years; that it first pulled out of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty more than a decade ago; that in exchange for a North Korean pledge to freeze work on the project, the U.S. promised, in the infamous 1994 “Agreed Framework,” to supply the regime with fuel oil, even to help it build two nuclear reactors, only to be told in 2002 that the North Koreans had never lived up to their side of the bargain; that notwithstanding this admission, the Bush administration had agreed to further talks, this time involving North Korea’s neighbours, at which North Korea again promised to dismantle its nuclear programs if still further concessions were made, and again reneged.”

OJ Simpson? Wow, how long have you been off the Blue Pill?

There is no realistic portrayal of news, no broad indepth coverage, just loud intro music some stupid graphic and the same thing said over and over in the form of everything you just said

Sounds like the FOX News Channel, Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, Mark Levin (first Right-Winger NeoCon Jew I’ve ever heard of), etc.

FOX News and Hannity’s Book “Deliver Us from Evil” (that’s where the Conservative’s favored allusions to WW2 analogies and the appeasement label probably originated from).

Although, I must say, even though I disagree with radio talk show host and former justice Levin, he is a really hilarious guy who regularly bashes liberals, expertly embarrasses callers who state that they are liberals, plays the part of the pissed-off, cranky old Jew really well, and coined the term “Axis of Appeasement”. Well done.

Then there’s Coulter’s book “Treason”, etc. Ann Coulter’s greatest genius is not so much her political opinion-making or even her contributions to the Conservative, right-wing reality distortion field but her realization that a blonde chick like her is gonna get a lot of attention in a political media-dialogue space traditionally dominated by older white guys, despite her pronounced Adam’s apple and masculine deep voice. That, in turn, has spawned a series of Coulter-wannabees, the most insidious example of which happens to be Michelle Malkin. Not only is Malkin the living, breathing textbook, dictationary definition of an intellectual sell-out whore, but she managed to improve upon Coulter’s innovation by realizing that the Asian-fetish dimension that she possesses would probably help her a great deal in the Conservative, Neo-Con, older white guy dominated political media-dialogue space.

Bluejives, you are way off-base again: Nearly ALL significant neo-cons are Jewish. Think Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, the Kristols…. Hard to name any that aren’t.
