Foreigners in Korea ’shocked’ by N. Korean nuke test

I want to sue the Chosun Ilbo for the three minutes of my life I’ll never get back that were spent reading this crap (HT to Lost Nomad).

I talked to a securites person at a Korean bank yesterday who said that many Koreans had sold their stock, upon hearing of the bomb test, whereupon many foriegners bought up said stocks.
I guess the foriegners living in Korea do not buy much stock then.

Going by the photo with that story, I’d say they’re more shocked at the typos and crappy writing in the Korea Times.

Not a single attribution in that story? And everyone in that story conveniently said exactly the kinds of things that Koreans tend to say (taking into account the bad translation). I’m betting some reporter went to Starbucks for the afternoon, then made the whole thing up.

id like 5 minutes back. slow reader in the morning.
i read a similar article a few days back on CBC, saying,
“Members of Canada’s Korean community expressed shock and fear for relatives abroad”

nuclear, chemical, or biological..does it really make a difference? living in seoul, we’d all be dead. (i suppose a nuke would take out a lot more people, but im in my own little world today.)

A 42-year-old Bangladeshi who runs an Indian restaurant says, “When I heard the sudden news of North Korea’s nuclear test, I became concerned about safety for the first time since I came here.”

I’d like to know what kind of visa this guy got to come and peddle food in Korea, a place in the world where there’s 30 restaurants per block in Seoul. So, do illegal-immigrants get their voices heard too? *BOGGLE* In any event, I’m sure that living in South Korea is way more dangerous than being in India (the only country in the world that still has the plague) or in Pakistan. ㅠ.ㅠ

Ok, um, so what was the point of the article? At least it vaguely alludes to the currently typical Korean (unrealistic) view that the Norks ain’t so bad, but aside from that, what are they trying to say– that foreigners need to grow a set? Or that Koreans are oblivious to the dangers involved?

i can’t believe it took anyone more than a minute to read this schlock. it’s yet another Chosun speed-read fodder filler that, Haisan says, is made up. as for the “42-year-old Bangladeshi” who feels the loss of his safety, that’s a red flag to crap!
