It must be a slow news day.
We have three articles on a presidential campaign that is still about 14 months away.
First, the JoongAng announces that (surprise) Park Geun-hye plans to run for president next year.
Next, the DongA has a piece on Park and other candidates getting ready to run.
Finally we have the Chosun releasing a poll that says Lee Myung-bak has pulled ahead of Park in their latest poll.
My very early prediction: If Hannaradang (GNP) does not change their election rules (and maybe even if their do), Park will get their nomination. Then the general election will be decided on whether Lee decides to accept that result or not. My advice to Park and the GNP leadership is to open up the process enough so that most people believe Lee has a fair chance.
If they don’t? Three words: Rhee In-jae.
