Sitting in a PC cafe in Jeonju, where I came down to help with our second Korean traditional music tour, this time to take in the opening of the Jeonju Sori Festival.
Things ran a great deal smoother than the first tour (to Chungju Lake), IMHO, and it seemed most of the participants enjoyed the music, food and hanok (traditional Korean home) experience. The first day’s closing event—featuring a number of interesting cross-over performances—was particularly good.
If you participated in the tour and are reading this, thanks for joining us and I hope to see you during one of our two upcoming tours (to Damyang and Songgwang-sa/Seonam-sa).
Anyways, as you’ve noticed, I’ve changed my template—again. The consensus seems to be that this one is pretty damn good. However, on IE, it seems the list bullets do not show up—see Sewing’s Korean news roundup below. If any of you code people know why this is, I’d appreciate you letting me know.

Hello! I love what you did with the theme. Looks great! Here’s how to fix the bullets for IE 6:
1. Go to the ie.css file
2. Look for the following code (areound line 332):
.entrybody ul, .entrybody ol {
margin-top: 10px;
margin-bottom: 10px;
margin-left: 0px;
}
3. Change it to this by adding a line (notice the list-style line):
.entrybody ul, .entrybody ol {
margin-top: 10px;
margin-bottom: 10px;
margin-left: 0px;
list-style: disk;
}
Let me know if that works our for you.
Hey, advice from the theme designer himself! Thanks, both for the fix advice and the great work you’ve done in designing this theme.
Unfortunately, however, the fix you suggest above doesn’t appear to be working, at least with IE6.
Hmmm … that’s odd. I have it working on the theme viewer, in this theme. Take a look at a bullet post in this theme is IE 6. Did you adjust the ie.css file? There are two CSS files: 1 for good browsers like firforx, and another for that beast that is IE 6. Use the above changes in the ie.css file. Let me know if that works for you.
Robert, I hope the Jeonju festival was well received. And I hope (seriously, not facetiously) that either a certain JoongAng critic wasn’t assigned to it, or if he was, he’s seen the light and appreciated your and your colleagues’ efforts.
Looks very good-that’s a great banner photo too.
instead of “list-style: disk;”
try “list-style-type: disk;”
and try including it in the “li” field
like this:
other values may be [circle, square, disc]
Hi Robert, very nice to have met you on Saturday.
We really enjoyed the weekend, you did a brilliant job
Thanks very much for organising it and please pass on our thanks to the rest of the team.
I’ve put a few photos on my blog in today’s entry.
There are a few other photos, if any one is interested please let me know.
Jon
Small quibble with the new format–when you click on “last comment” nothing happens. Does look great overall though.
so I see that didn’t work… but you updated that in the “ul” field, but not the “li” field. (thats the style right below it) It should work regardless in the “ul” field, but it obviously didn’t. Putting it in “li” localizes the style to where you want it applied.
Try that and if that doesn’t work do this:
but keep an eye out for side effects with this last method! It’s an override…
Dear Marmot,
On another thread—which I can’t find in my history (and which I can’t locate by searching your archives for my nickname)—I made a complaint about your new theme, remarking about its unreadability.
You asked me about which browser I used—it’s Safari.
After your question, I realised that I had set my browser to have font at no less than 14pts, so while I admit some responsibility for my complaint, your last theme was much more generous dealing with bigger fonts.
Unfortunately, even when I set this site to default viewing, it still looks like I am seeing through a nine-level hangover.
I enjoy your site so much, with the exception of the appearances of Shelton Gutbuttoner and the likes… and your “Share and Enjoy” lapel pins… and the stream of completely horrible and forgettable links you include on the right-hand side.
Marmot, please, even if you are a rodent (which I am not so sure that marmots are although I may be mistaken), please bring your site out of its schizophphrenic hell and just deliver the news in a comprehensible format.
The color scheme and nice picture (at top) is really nice Robert. I set my browsers at a decent point size so it all looks good. I’m glad these other guys mentioned the CSS issue because I have need of such too. I really hate Internet Explorer!
I’m glad the current round of musical ventures has turned out much better. Please call or write if you want some more names of journalists who will not drive you crazy.
I can’t find on this template any link to the main page of the Marmot’s Hole. I usually access the site through RSS live bookmark links in Firefox which lead to a specific posting. From there I usually click back on the top of the page to get to your other postings.
Please bring back a home page link! Also, I think in general it’s good to have the name of your blog in a more prominent position.
The banner image serves as the link to the main page. Give it a try.
And I’ll see about making the blog title more prominent.
Hmm…it looks like my Symantec Firewall is blocking the banner image from loading. I only got to see the banner after disabling it.
