Discussing his film “The Host,” director Bong Jun-ho recalled that even the American special effects staff enjoyed the anti-American aspect of the film. He noted how they liked the partly anti-American scenario and how they joked around about how stupid U.S. President George Bush was. He was impressed by how they enjoyed the film’s satirical content.
The special effects of “The Host” were done by San Francisco-based visual effects studio The Orphanage.

Of course they liked the anti-American bits, they’re from the Left Coast, and San Fran in particular.
Oh, yeah, and they’re in the field of arts, a field rife with leftist lemmings (I was involved in the arts for 15 years before coming to Korea).
I’m totally with them. Let’s pull our troops out of Korea so we can stop creating giant monsters with the waste our troops are dumping.
It’s called ‘not biting the hand that feeds you.’
Well, if some overpaid special effects guys in the U.S. liked the provincial, xenophobic viewpoint of the movie it must truly be great entertainment.
Those guys in the states have no clue as to how such a movie plays a part in an ongoing propaganda campaign against things American. Considering the opening part of the film as a jab at Bush is quite dumb and typical of many fellow Americans, who are ignorant when it comes to Korea or anywhere else in the world.
Koreans often think that Americans joking about Bush IN FRONT OF FOREIGNERS is equal to hating the US. Koreans do bitch and joke about Korea (more than most I’d even say), but generally patriotism (or nationalism) overrides such ridicule when the foreigner is around.
Thus,in his own mind, Mr. Bong’s form of hate, anti-americanism, is justified.
I’ll wager the American special effects crew laughed even more at the director’s last name.
Being in San Francisco and all.

This is the kind of thinking that the Dixie Chicks have never understood, from the time of their concert in England.
What, lefty Frisco art types bashing America? NFW!!!
oh, i get so tired hearing about how north korea is going to invade south korea. to what end would the north do such a thing? the day kji decides to attack the south would be first day of the end for north korea. how long would north korea soldiers fight when they come upon a land of plenty? how will they react when they see food, goods, and money everywhere? what will they do? any war that the north initiates would be over quickly and in the south korea’s favor.
‘biting the hand that feeds you.’ sonagi
well, the expat doesn’t seem to have a problem biting the hand that feeds him. don’t you a problem with that, professor?
I find that the main benefit to this movie is to see you rednecks get in a huff.
I prefer to call it ‘biting the hand which occasionally feeds me’.
The thing is that many expats start biting that’s supposed to be feeding them when they stop getting fed, at least that’s my experience.
All work and no pay makes me an unhappy boy.
“how will they react when they see food, goods, and money everywhere? what will they do?” Umm, shoot everybody in sight and take it away, I would imagine.

Last Time I checked Kim Jung-Il had a nuclear bomb and a pretty good rage missile delivery system.
You may wanna double check that quick win by the South. More like a quick victory by Kim, or a never ending extortion scheme with the sword of nuke bomb hanging over your head as soon as US pulls out.
Good luck.
You don’t need to wish pawikirogi good luck. He’s an American. A delusional and angry Korean-American, but an American nonetheless. Disaster in Korea won’t hurt him personally, except that it might Hurt His Pride™.
