Japanese sexually assaults Korean university student

Yonhap is reporting that a Korean female university student working as a volunteer at a music festival in Tsushima Island was beaten and sexually assaulted by a male Japanese student/part-time employee at the festival venue.

Now, aside from the fact that this was one of the most-looked at pieces over at Naver.com, it’s also the first time I’ve seen Naver.com close the comment section on one of its articles.  You’ll notice Naver.com has placed a notification at the bottom noting that out of concern that the identity of the girl might be released, her personal rights violated or her honor slandered, the comments section was closed.  Probably a wise move on the portal site’s part.

In fact, the Korea Times carried a very interesting piece on how Naver.com and other portal sites have come under fire for a number of different reasons, including their comment culture.

If she were a western woman, this student would not have been raped. The Japanese fear westerners.

But, they were taught to beat, rape and steal from Asians. Koi and other Yasukuni worshippers taught them it is not only OK to rape and kill other Orientals but highly desirable and honorable.

After all, the Japanese are the master race in Asia. And, they are allowed to exterminate inferior neighbors, mostly Koreans and the Chinese.

Heads up Marmot, but you may want to check up ESWN for the latest on the Chinese blogosphere for more stupid foreigner tricks material. English teachers at it again, this time a teacher at a university instead of a Hagwon seducing his students and writing about his triumphs on his blog. Even better is that a Chinese psychology professor has essentially issued a fatwah to out the gweilo and drive him from the country. To add more fuel to the fire, instead of the previous Korean example who close his blog to public traffic, this English teacher in question has fired back with some political polemic and insults on Chinese manhood. Zany antics sure to follow.

You know how like in the US, whenever there is a crime committed (rape, mugging, whatever) the Blacks are silently thinking “O God, please dont let him be Black…”

Do the expats find yourselves doing a similar thing in Korea?

It’s just lame and predictably nationalistic to seize upon one woman’s tragedy to indulge in Japan-bashing; tell that to Lucie Blackman or the dozens of other victims of Joji Obara. Then again, maybe you do have a point; maybe raping Western women is a particularly Korean specialty, since Obara was a naturalized Japanese citizen of Korean descent

For those who don’t read Chinese Characters, the link provided by Hans is a list of Japanese citizens of Korean descent or Korean residents in Japan convicted of murder and a brief description of their victims. Why such a list? Well, I’m not proficient in Japanese, but from what I understand of the text that appears above the list, this blog post is in response to previous comment dealing with media coverage of crime. A list of blog entry categories appears on the left. I clicked “Korea” out of curiosity and the most recent post was about the shrine visits.

Frankly, I am getting VERY tired of all the predictable ethnic mudslinging and trolling. I’ll give the Hole another week before I replace it with another blog.

Han’s point is well made though…

What did Hans do? He spun the issue. The Japanese have problem in this area. Hans indicated, through unreliable website I might add, Koreans and Japanese with Korean ancestry are to blame.

A fucking racist, Hans is. I think he is a Japanese. I just cannot imagine an English man advocating the Japanese who committed numerous rapes of white women at Philippines and New Zealand during WWII.

You wish! I’m not Japanese, not even Asian, but I do know the following for a fact:
1 - That Joji Obara is a sex-criminal of Japanese citizenry who preferred his victims white, in contradiction of your stupid claims.
2 - That he most certainly was born into a Korean family, and he only adopted Japanese citizenship as an adult. This is a fact whether or not 2channelers state it to be so; even if uyoku nuts in black trucks said so, it would still be the truth.

You can either continue to claim that Japanese rapists don’t target white people, only Koreans - in which case you’ll probably want to claim Obara as a fellow Korean - or you can pull your head out of *ss, stop spouting your dumb anti-Japanese nonsense, and take this incident for no more than it is, a single pervert who’s been caught and is certain to be punished. If you want to make every crime committed by a Japanese person on a Korean into a national insult, you have no grounds for complaining when similar medicine is dished your way.

The Korean brand of Christianity is actually a syncretism of Christianity, Confucianism, and shamanism. Heavy emphasis on legalism and salvation by works rather than redemption through grace. Big on quantity, low in quality. But we are all fallen creatures, righteous facade or not. I’m sure Christ would forgive Baduk. He came for the sick, not the healthy.

Guess rice Christain isn’t as well-known as I thought. It’s a 19th- and early 20th-century term for those in Asia whose conversion was due to motives other than spiritual ones. A contemporary example would be how 40% of the population is Christain in the homeland and then it balloons to over 90% when they emigrate. Or how I joined a cargo cultwhen I moved here. Still waiting for those magical iron birds to drop the goodies on me.
