Korean man-whores in China!

You can’t make up stuff like this. From the Chosun Ilbo:

According to a statement from the Seoul Metropolitan Police on Wednesday, a 36-year-old Korean man being identified by his last name Kim is being held by Chinese authorities under suspicion of hiring male hosts to work at his sex bar. Nine men who worked at the bar have been booked here but not detained. It is alleged that Kim earned some 696,000 Yuan (W83.5 million; US$1=W956) in illegal profits through his business venture that catered to Chinese women and Korean female tourists between December of last year and February of this year. Police say that Kim employed his own style of “Korean Wave marketing”: proudly noting on the handbills and Internet ads that the men were Korean.

What might these “hosts” be doing in the club?

A police insider says, “The male workers would either perform a nude show, or perform various other kinds of lewd acts using their naked bodies.”

The humanity.

The Korean Wave has truly come of age. The Host Bar “Ho Ba” has a proud, if relatively recent, place in modern Korean entertainment culture. You’ve come a long way baby.

Can anyone find the the hanguel version of this article? Would be a great tease. I really do wish the Chosun would link to their hanguel stories.

Hmm…I wonder if that’s any reason why some of my female colleagues here at the office left for Beijing last month….said it was their ’summer holiday’ thing.

(enter eerie tune from the Twilight Zone)

Women in Korea, Japan and China prefer men with the “gominam” look. Skinny, effemeniate, no facial/body hair growth, makeup up wearing (lipstick) dudes that border on looking like women. Western women don’t like that look, they prefer the stronger rugged type.
One must wonder why do North east asian women like guys who look like girls? Could it be some closet, lesbian desires that are suppressed, and in such a homophobic society, those desires can only be fulfilled with men/boys that look like girls? mmmmmm I wonder…..It is “gominam” that earn the bucks as man whores. Looks like I may be paying a visit to the lippy counter, and going for the full body wax!

There used to be a lot of host bars in Nonhyong-dong back in 98 - not sure if they’re still there. My friend said sometimes women would take the guys home.

I’ll bet they aren’t on the “off-limits” list.

For some reason, Michael Jackson comes to mind from reading that description. I doubt the average Korean male could afford that much plastic surgery.

Can’t blame these guys for wanting to live the dream. ;) On the other hand — handbills? Internet ads? Is this par for the course in China, or should this guy have been a bit more discreet?

I’ve noticed the American TV show “Cheaters” is extremely popular in Korea. Is it true that private investigators are illegal in Korea?

I can fully imagine the impact a similar TV show in Korea, exposing those who frequent love hotels or brothels, would have in Korea — ritualistic suicides.

Wait a minute. I thought the other thread proved that Korean women only interested in Western guys.
