Well, at least he likes you

Much like his counterpart to the North, President Roh appears to have given up on the Bush administration:

President Roh Moo-hyun has expressed his frustration about the deadlocked ties between North Korea and the United States, saying that he feels it is almost impossible to persuade President George W. Bush to mend fences.

“I don’t think I can persuade the United States any more. I expect it would also be tough for me to persuade Bush to normalize relations with Pyongyang in the next month’s summit,” he was quoted as telling senior journalists in a meeting at Chong Wa Dae last Sunday.

Things aren’t all bad, however:

“But President Bush likes me personally. I heard about that much indirectly.”

Well, that’s nice.

Interestingly enough, Roh’s comments—and there are a lot of them about a lot of things—were made off-the-record but leaked to the public by the Hanguk Ilbo.

Despite what the lackeys say, if you’re neither invited to the Texas ranch nor croon “Love Me Tender” at Graceland you’re not liked, Mr. President.

This shows the delusional worldview held in the Roh Blue House. Why on Earth would George W. Bush like you, Mr. President? You and your policy advisers insult his country and his soldiers’ dignity (maybe you haven’t noticed, but Dubya likes soldiers and they like him), frustrate his policy objectives, and have the gall to support your enemy while at the same time continuing to hold your hand out for money from George for your “protection” from that enemy. US money helps you keep your defense budget low, so you have extra money to give to the nuke-building, people-starving pygmy George W. Bush loathes.

You’re negotiating a so-called Free Trade Agreement while at the same time orchestrating campaigns to raise non-tariff trading barriers against US foodstuffs — don’t think the Bush crew is so stupid they haven’t noticed the increase in newspaper stories about Korean housewives vowing patriotically never to serve US beef once the mad-cow quarantine is lifted.

You’re a nerdy dwarf who wears makeup, for God’s sake! Are you sure you fit in at the Crawford ranch? Yeah, Dubya thinks you’re buddies. He was a frat boy! They stand for everything you despise, and they despise you right back. You’ll be lucky to escape without getting a swirly.

I’d like Dubya to go all Malcolm Reynolds on the guy: “Hell, I’m going to grant your greatest wish. I’m going to show you ‘independence’.”

Politicians, as they say, are prone to lying. Successful ones lie to constituents, and failed ones lie to themselves.

    cheney: Ain’t that the truth.
w: You gonna do some prayin’ for me, boy. And you better pray real good.

The idiot forgot that there’s no such thing as “off the record” in Korea. More proof he has no business being the leader of the world’s tenth-largest economy.

that’s a great editorial in the chosun linked by michael.

it’s pretty scary having such a clueless guy running a country. as the editorial said, “God help us get through another year and a half with the man.”

It is interesting to note the similarities between Rho and Bush, while, of course, recognizing their vast ideological differences.

    1. Both are former heavy drinkers. Much ink has been shed on Bush’s boozing. Rho, according to interviews during the campaign, admitted there was a time when he used to get really hammered and quarrel (code word for beat) with his wife.

    2. Both are unspohisticated and unabashed about their lack of sophistication to the point where one could call it their mutual trademark.

    3. Both have scant to non-existant academic credentials and an aversion to intellectuals and book-learning of all kinds.

    4. Both had very lackluster professional careers prior to entering politics.

    5. Both beat stiff, smart opponents who were seen as presidents in waiting.

    6. Both are loathed with trememdous passion by their respective opposition parties, which does’t seem to faze either in the slightest.

    7. Both have a knack for saying dumb things.

    8. Both have approval ratings in the gutter despite fairly decent track records on their economies.

well, people might jump on me for this comment, but i think bush has a purpose, as oppose to roh who has no purpose or any sense. and even for liberals who hate bush, i think roh makes bush look like a genius. oh, and bush surrounds himself with capable and smart people while roh surrounds himself with incompetent staff. that’s just my opinion.

I just have to give props to Brendon for such a hilarious comment.

The only thing I’d add is that with the FTA, Roh’s trying to negotiate an FTA while trying to slide in products from the land of the aforementioned nuke-building people-starving Kate-Pierson-wannabe pygmy that W loathes.
