As the unofficial Liberty in North Korea (LiNK) groupie here at the Hole, I am always glad to pass on information from them.
LiNK-Seoul will be having a meeting in tomorrow:
Please meet at Gong Duk Station (transfer point between line #5 & #6), exit 6 by 4pm to be escorted to Ed’s place. If running late, his apartment is right next to the station and is called “METRO-the O’ville, ” apt. 2906.This will be an important meeting to get informed about LiNK Seoul’s future. If you have not come out to our events in awhile, this meeting will be a good place to re-boot and get plugged in again!
Among other things, they will be picking a new leadership team. I believe it will be the fourth in four years, which is a pretty high turnover. The good news is that each successive leader has built a stronger organization than he or she started with. If you have never been to a LiNK meeting, they are an interesting mix of Koreans, Americans (Korean Americans and whities), Europeans, Australians and a few North Korea defectors. They are mainly concerned with education on North Korean human rights and outreach to North Korean defectors, although they do advocacy from time to time.
It is a fine organization and gets the official Yangban Marmot’s Hole writer Andy seal of approval. If you want to work for human rights in North Korea, LiNK is an excellent vehicle for you efforts.
