dda on French coverage of the Deep Freeze

dda has been busy translating French reports pertaining to French freezer babies—here’s one, and here’s the other. Here’s something disturbing:

Yonhap news agency reported that “V” had undergone surgery in 2003, and had her uterus removed. Thus, babies would have been born before that date. The couple has two other children. AP

BTW, Korean reporters are already descending onto Mr. C’s village in France.

Oh, crap. I *live* in his neighborhood and I am already hearing about this from Korean friends who want to know what’s up, like maybe the freezer parents are my best friends or something. Maybe I will be able to figure out which building it is though, so I can avoid it.

I hate to say it, but I am honestly wondering about the quality of the DNA testing. It seems interesting to me they were able to get a conclusive match based on some tissue from a makeup kit and cotton swabs. Anyone know how they got the French man’s DNA? Did he give a cheek swab before getting on the plane out of here.

Don’t get me wrong, I totally think the couple are involved somehow. It stretches crediblity to think that some stranger went and put dead kids in his freezer for him to find, plus, he finds them and then goes on vacation like it’s no big deal? More than a little odd…

[...] And in the second-most-looked-at-piece at Naver.com (and no, the first has nothing to do with North Korea, although it does include an image of the very cute Lee Na-yeong), French police have reportedly arrested the parents of the French Freezer Babies when their own DNA tests revealed the same thing the Korean tests did, namely, that the dead infants found in the freezer of their home in Seoul were, in fact, theirs. French police have yet to determine the cause of death, however, and the parents’ lawyer said his clients’ position has not changed.
