I like hot naked Asian chicks as much as the next guy, but…

All in all, this actually isn’t a bad blog (although it hasn’t been updated in a month), and I appreciate innocent T&A (frequently post/link to it here), but one wonders about the wisdom of posting something like this in your profile in the post-English Spectrum age:

Have also studied Korean traditional percussion instruments and I hold an ESL (teaching English as a second language) certificate, which is a great way to get close to hot Asian chicks seeking to improve their foreign oral skills.

Lovely.

    That, and this;

“Served in the U.S. Army on active duty from ‘96-’99 as a PATRIOT missile crewman. ”

Let’s see, an English teacher, and an ex-GI to boot. Now that’s a deadly combination! LOL.

The dude has some courage, posting his pics then on his next pic, wishing he’d see his co-worker naked. Just prey his school doesn’t find out.

I like the guy. He’s obviously enjoying his time in Korea. And his blog is a refreshing change from angry expat blogs stuck on endless rants on Korea’s political and cultural scenes. Kudos to his blog. It’s funny and entertaining.

See, that’s the thing—it really is a good blog. It’s entertaining, and he certainly doesn’t find Korea “boring.” And he does have a set of balls to post his picture and name.

But man, with the public perception of English teachers being what it is, some things are just best left unsaid…

I’m not sure if I qualify as an “angry expat blogger”, but…what Dogbertt said. And I can’t say I’ve ever been bored over here but that still doesn’t change the fact that Korea would be one of the last places I’d come if I were planning a tourism-type vacation ;).

Yeah. He’s a grown man, and adults can do whatever they want. But as far as I’m concerned there are three no-fly zones for getting random pussy: Students, students’ moms, and coworkers. Because if and when it goes to shit, everyone else has to deal with it.

  9. Posted August 7, 2006 at 3:04 pm | Permalink

I wouldn’t burn the guy at the stake, but I don’t particularly like being around a co-worker or out and about with a guy when all he can talk about is pussy — and that is what this blog screams. But as far as the adult students from a hakwon being on it, as long as it isn’t hidden camera upskirts, they are consenting adults. If I were the hakwon manager or owner, however, a completely different story….

I like the guys blog but he’s not very smart with all of the references and innuendos about having sex with his students. He may not realize he’s only one obsessive netizen away from having his face plastered all over the Korean news and trying to be on the first plane out of Incheon.

At least he’s honest. “Fringe benefits”?. Naw. How about “main benefits”. Take away women and money, and why would most anyone (95%) would want to teach in Korea other then for sexy girls and money?

“I like the guys blog but he’s not very smart with all of the references and innuendos about having sex with his students. ”

I like the guy’s blog because it’s minus inflammatory racial innuendos like the ones I saw at the English Spectrum. He’s just being a conniseur of fine Asian women and really enjoying himself without resorting to putting any group down.

Unfortunately, that might be true for a large number of folk. For what it’s worth, I’m all in favor of sexy girls and money, but I’d imagine making sexual comments about students on your website would get you canned in the United States, and given all the positive press English teachers have been getting here, it’s not something I’d want to attach my time and place of work to.

I think it’s legit. If you go back and read the past posts and go to his myspace you can also find pictures of him back in the states and with his mother. He also has a little common sense and doesn’t reveal his cell phone number or the place he hangs out in that Internet conversation. Of course not a lot of good it would do since he tells everyone where he works.

this blog flaunts his sexual imperialism of Korea (not good) and general lack of ethics (remarks about his students in a sexual and derogatory manner). guys like this piss me off; whether he is having fun here or not, boasting like this is unworthy of a gentleman.

thankfully, he’s given himself more than enough rope …

Common sense apart from the fact that he appears to be a member of the band the Penetrators, who i believe are fairly well known in Korea.

The guy seems to be a loner and a sexual predator, i am no expert but this is worrying.

It’s not just Waeguks. I seem to remember a case some years back whereby a young Korean-American was given a very lucrative job at a local bank headquarters and sent out numerous emails to his goombas back in LA about how hot the executive life was in Korea, complete with room-salons, etc. As I recall, a jealous Ex received a copy of the email and spread it around. Once the bank officers found out, he was canned. Deja vu all over again?

I disapprove of Mark Turner finking this creepy guy out to newspapers and policemen. It seems shortsighted to encourage the formation of Korean lynch mobs to combat “foreigner misdeeds” — any one of us, save Nathan Bauman, apparently, could be on the receiving end of another moral panic to drive out interlopers. This time it’s caddish English teachers, next sarcastic and mean foreign lawyers. This is to be avoided at all costs!

why would you try to make trouble for someone you don’t know? if you disagree with what the guy has on his website, track him down and tell him face-to-face. why would you rather try to get other people to do your high-horse work for you?

you don’t think he commited any crimes, do you? why bother contacting the police?

Ah, the Penetrators. I was trying to figure out where I had seen the guy.

BTW–The gyopo who got in trouble for sending excessively detailed e-mails was with Carlyle. Apparently George Schultz and the other top dogs there were not amused.

I’ve been reading Charles’ site for a long time. He’s certainly a bit eccentric, but he’s not hurting anyone with his views and observations. His choice to include information about his place of employment is probably one he’ll live to regret as soon as a few Korean netizens decide to make his life miserable.

In any event, Charles is definitely having a fun time here in Korea. Cheers!

[...] It seems the “foreign man dating Korean woman” issue has again reared its ugly head in the blogging world (and Korean media).  The controversy began with this story at The Marmot’s Hole about an English teacher whose blog obviously demonstrates that he either lacks common sense or has overwhelming masochistic inclinations; and the follow-up post alleging that one of the commenters to the original post followed through on his threat to report the offending blog to the Korean media.  Naturally, the comments have mostly diverged from the offending teacher and the snitch to issues of interracial dating (as mentioned earlier, mainly foreign men and Korean women), racism, and bigotry.  No big surprise there.
