I just finished the movie at 5:30 this morning (California time). I can't think of anything about it that wasn't deeply disturbing. If that was the intention, Mr. Kim succeeded brilliantly.

What was the idea of foreigners liking to tattoo or carve writings onto women's titties? I've never heard that one before.

The only action I want to take after seeing it is to find the guy who agreed to play the young American soldier. I'm not into simple punishments like beating his ass. No, I would have to think long and hard about an appropriate punishment. Perhaps a forced defection to North Korea, where he can really make a contribution to cinematic truth.

Korean movies are either dreary death-fests with no point besides "life sucks", or sex comedies that make the "Carry On..." films look like XXX porn.

That was the most violent film I've seen in a long time, far surpassing anything that claims to be violent from Hollywood. It took a few days to get the effect of that film out of my mind.

The director does have a voice and talent that is unique but it is borderline sick perhaps, if not too negative.
