Irony? You decide.

[P]ointing out mistakes and bickering over what is right and wrong is not helpful, and in the end the injury rebounds on the abduction victim and the victim’s family….”

So said an unnamed South Korean official yesterday while defending the government’s low-key approach to the case of Kim Young-nam, whom Seoul still believes was abducted to North Korea despite his and Pyongyang’s denials (HT to Korea Liberator). If the source (i.e., the Chosun Ilbo) turns you off, here’s the same thing in Korean via Yonhap News.

Also yesterday, a presidential fact-finding commission released the names of 120 historical figures who allegedly collaborated with the Japanese during the colonial era:

“There have been many academic studies on pro-Japanese collaborators during the colonial period, but this is the first time that a decision to investigate them was made at a governmental level.” said Jung Un-hyun, spokesman for the Presidential Committee for the Inspection of Collaboration in Japanese Imperialism.

“It’s an important and meaningful step toward revealing the historical truth and ensuring the country’s legitimacy,” Jung said.

Can’t make this stuff up.
