For the first time in a very long time, the most looked-at piece at Naver.com is not, I repeat, NOT a football story.
In fact, as of 1:00 p.m., the No. 1 most-viewed story at Korea’s leading Internet portal was…
(drum roll)
“Civil Servant Pension Reform Begins in Earnest” by Yonhap News.
Thrilling stuff, brought to you courtesy The Marmot’s Hole.
Remember, you read it here first.

Have any ajossis taken off their shirt and dropped their pants in public because of this?
(I don’t really want to know, thank you.)

Actually, Robert knows this is thrilling stuff as far as its importance in Korean society is concerned, but knowing what kind of posts generate dozens of comments, he’s being kind of sarcastic.
Well, it’s OK, Antti, because the story’s has now been pushed out of the Top 10, its place taken by such pivitol issues as that art teacher in the US who got fired because of photos of her in a “beef bikini” posted on her homepage, as well as a lot of football stories. Oh, and Han Ye-jin (of “Jumong” fame) still uses public transportation.
Heather Weathers Wear the Beef bit dates to 2003. Her home page makes no mention of her losing a job because of it. What’s Naver nattering on about this late in the day?
Well, apparently the ACLU is sueing on her behalf. The story is just a summary of what the US press is saying about it.
Hmm, do you have a link to the teacher’s on-line bikini brief photos? Need to check out the evidence and all that.
Robert, just don’t let this blog become only naver-gazing.
Antti, are you suggesting I talk about something that’s, like, actually important?
