For some odd reason, my Akismet comment and trackback spam protection has eaten the comments of two commentators, including one from a coblogger. I’ve reflagged the comments and they now appear, but I’m working on a more permanent solution to this issue. In the meantime, if your comments fail to show, don’t worry—I’ll keep regular watch over my flagged comments to rescue legitimate postings.
So don’t mistakenly think you were banned. Unless, of course, you’re a certain Malaysian-Chinese troll in San Diego. Your comments are getting through just fine—you really have been banned. As a guy who believes the PRC is the world’s largest democracy, you probably understand.

Hear ye, Hear ye, Hear ye.
Mighty Marmot, the owner of this site, the fearless world-traveller, the most knowledgeable about Korea and Korean affairs, has spoken.
He banned the Malaysian-Chinese troll who sold weird snake oil to the inhabitants of this hole and took much of our provision. He is not allowed into this place any more.
I also proclaim that if you see Mighty Marmot during daytime you must kneel to show respect. You may only speak when you are spoken to. Only after sundown, you may forgo this rule and speak freely. However, when Marmotess is present, you must maintain your decorum.
(add more rules…)
I love this site. And, I appreciate Marmot, for your effort in maintaining this site and educating all visitors about Korea.
yeah, i love this site as well. i was wondering why mahathir-fan started posting on my personal blog site, which in my opinion blows nuts compared to this one and gets 1/1091821th the visitors.
he is definitely a nice guy though, maybe he is overly stubborn in his political views moreso than other topics.
“Extreme” would be a better word to describe someone who thinks the North Korean famine is fiction and provides as evidence a photo of North Korean children eating a meal.
Oh, thank goodness. I thought I was being banned again for unkindness toward Shelton.
Y’know, about the certain fan of the certain guy, I am always curious about how such people function in real life, which means part of me, for shits and giggles, would like to meet up with such a person next time in San Diego just to shoot the breeze about these topics. Sure, I might want to shoot more than just the breeze after a while, but it would be interesting.
Mahathir fan and MizS, of Lost Nomad fame.
Jesus, if you’re going to go around banning crack-pots, this place will be as empty as non-smoking bar in Seoul.
There’s a non-smoking bar in Seoul?
Yeah, look there it is. The best tasting ramyeon ever with my name on it. I’m filled with pride and noddle soup.
What happened to ourMiz5, we haven’t seen him for a while? Did Miz5 get banned, just like the Malaysian crackpot from San Diego?
actually, I think Mahathir_fan should be reinstated. He says crazy things, but he’s not a bad person.
Congrats on your new gravatar fellow ramyeon slurper
I thought exactly the same thing as Kushibo–how does madhatter_fan operate in S.D.? I guess he doesn’t want to spoil the fantasy by actually going to China….
He’s a troll. My comment sections have a difficult enough time staying on topic without having someone intentionally trying to lead them off track. Which is what he does. And he keeps calling me Richard—after telling him repeatedly that’s not my name (as is plainly seen above my comments). And that’s just annoying.
Miz5 (of this blog) wasn’t banned. He still checks in and posts from time to time.
I also think that MizS (of Nomad’s blog) is interesting/unusual: sometimes she states opinions that even the hawkish ones there will support, but then she’ll turn around and say something that has most folks convinced she’s been hitting the crackpipe again. Really unusual. But I don’t think that you’d have to travel far to meet her, kushibo - I think that she’s in town, no?
have all you marmot hole-ians currently in korea met each other yeT? maybe we shoudl all go for a drink or somethin xP
I think that’s a capital idea, but I sense the Marmot, perhaps living up to his namesake, may be a bit reclusive. The last time I saw him and made eye contact, he cast an apprehensive glance my way and trundled quickly on down the street, hurriedly adjusting the volume on his iPod.
But I don’t think that you’d have to travel far to meet her, kushibo - I think that she’s in town, no?
I’m imagining a love quadrilateral, along with Meredith and Cindy.
Was Admiral Yi Sun Shin banned? I haven’t seen any posts from him for some time now. Quite a prominent member too, at least at one time, as I recall.
I wasn’t too fond of mad_hatter_fan either, but I found his comments way less outlandish than baduk’s (except for that democratic PRC statement), which usually seemed mind-numbingly trollish…although he’s been behaving lately
Guess that goes to show how far right most of everyone here is… oh well, I love this place anyway. And Baduk’s kitty avatar.
