and, one more thing:

what’s with the major television broadcasters’ (KBS1, KBS2, MBC, and SBS) showing only one–that is, the same–match during these current simultaneous fixtures, especially during the 11pm time slot?

i noticed on tuesday night that MBC, KBS2, and SBS all only showed one 11pm fixture (germany-ecuador) live, while KBS1 broadcast the costa rica-poland match on tape-delay at 1:30am.  same with last night–only portugal v. mexico at 11pm was live and iran v. angola was shown at 1:30am on tape-delay.  tonight is no different: only czech republic v. italy at 11pm (ghana v. usa on tape-delay at 1:30am).

yet, for the 4am games the last two nights and again tonight, there are split showings so people can flip back and forth between two games of equal importance.

any idea why they’re discriminating against the 11pm games, especially tonight when both 11pm matches are important to all four teams–and, subsequently, their supporters?  i don’t think i’m alone in wanting to be able to watch both the czech republic-italy and ghana-usa matches live at the same time.  i don’t want to watch the tape-delay of ghana–usa when i already will know the outcome…

any ideas on why these dumbass broadcasters are showing only one–the same–match at 11pm, but showing both games at 4am will be greatly appreciated…

On a related note, I was told that Australian TV was planning on showing the France-Togo match live and the Korea-Swiss game on tape-delay, before a joint protest from Samsung/LG/Hyundai forced the network’s hand and they are reversing the schedule to air the Korea match live.

Yes, the Korean networks are assholes. But, I watched the American loss at Scrooge’s in real time. They had a South Afrcian feed.

It’s about money, i.e. broadcasting licenses. In Germany the simultanously played alternative game is shown only on pay tv-channels. In 2002 they broadcasted both games on free tv. As far as I know the FIFA sold the broadcasting rights to an international consortium, which made different individual contracts with pay-tv and free-tv stations in each country.
