Damn you, Peter Karmanos! Damn you to hell!

Yes, the team formerly known as the Hartford Whalers have won Lord Stanley’s Cup.

That’s all I’m going to say about that.

Bill Butters must be saying now, “the greatest fight in history was worth it after all!”

Good to see a little hockey coverage in the midst of this World Cup hoopla. It was a great series by the way, and Carolina deserved the victory in last nights game — even though it broke the hearts of Canadians.

Hope you guys in Korea are ready for the next game though. It’s going to be a wild one in Seoul I’m sure.

Lies. In the end, Edmonton got what they deserved - which was a whole lot of nothing.

    Go Canes!

Now that Hockey season is over, there is no need for me to check the sports pages again until the NFL starts its preseason games.

Marmot, why were you a Hartford fan? Shouldn’t you have been supporting the Islanders? Or were Whalers games across Long Island Sound actually easier to get to than driving into the city?

Sorry, I know right about now, everyone is thinking about the Korea-Switzerland game that’s going to start in less than 3 hours and counting, but this has been bugging me….

By the way, is anyone sleeping over there in Korea tonight, or is everyone staying up until kick-off at 5 am? I wonder if City Hall is a zoo right now, with people camping out waiting for the game to begin….

Why, I suppose you’re right, sewing. And in fact, I did follow both the Whalers and Islanders.  Actually, I was a fan of three teams—the Whalers, Islanders and whoever was playing the Rangers.  The Whalers were my favorite until they left, afterwhich I became a full-time Islander fan.
Oh, and the Islanders don’t play in the city—they play at Nassau Coliseum, which is not only MUCH easier to get to than Hartford Civic Center, a.k.a. “The Mall,” but also usually only half-full, unless the Rangers are in town.
