A little too much realism, I guess

Surprise, surprise… Venezuela is pissed off at Pandemic’s upcoming video game Mercenaries 2: World in Flames.

The games predecessor, Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, had managed to piss off both Koreas and was banned in the South (and, presumably, in the North).

North Korea banned the game, too? Wow, imagine all the missed profit opportunities.

Maybe it’s just because i live in a country that has been (almost) completely ignored by either videogames and Hollywood, but i’d be delighted if they decided to change from Venezuela to Portugal. Sure, it’d require a huge stretch of the imagination, but hey, any publicity is good publicity.

I’m just surprised the Venezuelan president hasn’t declared war on the U.S. yet. :P

I played Mercenaries for a few hours, and aside from some signs in hangul, I thought the game sucked.

As for putting Portugal in a game, I think it’d make a great backdrop for Grand Theft Auto. You get drunk on Oporto, then seek revenge on all the Brits that are buying vacation properties.
