The funniest thing about this news item is that those photos were the best evidence the writer could produce. Imagine all the “less than standard” material that he/she passed over.

Kim Tae-hee is a beauty though.

They all had plastic surgery. Everyone of them.

The case in particular - Kim Ah-jung. She looks so ugly that I shudder whenever I see her on TV. Her lips are obviously fixed; she has what Koreans call “urchin lip” where a part of lip points to nose. She had a bad case of that and she fixed it up.

Her nose, her eyes, her lips, and almost everything on her face moves independently. When she smiles or make an angry face, each part of her face moves in odd way. Too many plastic surgeries! Her facial muscles are all messed-up. They move inhuman way. Like a robot with bad design.

Korean TV should ban some of these “artificial” faces. They make me throw up whenever I see those plastic surgery faces. And, there are too many of them on TV these days.

Wow. Another hard-hitting piece of investigative journalism from the Chosun Ilbo. I’m very impressed.

No way. They are all surgically altered. My wife says that some people get plasitic eye-lid surgery for their kids even when they are in Elementary School so that most people won’t remember their pre-altered appearance. The photos shown here are just a couple of years old at most. And what about toucing up pictures digitally?

If you want to see what a real Korean woman’s unaltered face should look like, you need look no further than the historic photos of Koreans that can be found on the Internet.

    Check out this link:

    http://www.usc.edu/libraries/a.....5num37.jpg

In this photo, taken in the early 20th century, how many women can you see with “double eye lids” (쌍꺼풀)?

    Here’s another photo to examine:

All these ladies might have had plastic surgery, but I hope Lee Young-ae and Song Hye-gyo get a refund — their faces look like they have been stretched. At least Koreans aren’t going for the 64ZZZ breast-implants. :P

Some of the “before” pics indeed look like “after” pics, rather…

And of course we won’t even touch up the delicate subject of liposuction…

Speaking of Kim Ah-Jung, a search for plastic surgery addiction on Yahoo Korea yields this before and after pair of photos:

    Sorry that link didn’t work.

Go to http://kr.yahoo.com and do with these key words:

    이분들이 성형수술 했다는데

Your results will yield photos included those of Kim Ah-Jung.

You really can’t go by historic pictures either. Vastly changing diet and lifestyles have altered how Koreans look today. I agree with you on the double eye lids though - 99% of those are fake.

Does anyone know why President Roh Moo Hyun got eye lid surgery? Surely, surely, it was medically necessary to maintain life, was it not?

I once knew a girl in high school who got one, and dude, her eyes had this unatural glitter that made her look like a totally different person. She went from US to South Korea to get the surgery on summer break. Anyway, the look kind of blended in after a while, so it was unnoticable, but

For President Roh, his eyes are always glittering. It’s kind of unmanly. Why did he get it?

Is it just me guys or do most of them look ugly? I’ve seen much prettier women walking in the street. And for JFC I really dont understand why anyone thinks Lee Young-ae is so great. She’s not even half hot! WTF?!!1one. The article says she “spearheads” the Korean wave and Korean men jack off to her nightly but shes not even hot!! She looks like an ajuma!

When I read this article yesterday I thought, “Damn, this was made to be fisked by the Marmot’s Harlots!” :)

WJK–there’s supposedly some “condition” that some older Asian men get that affects their eyelids…at least that’s the excuse the Blue House gave. The dude really looks like the proverbial deer caught in the headlights now.

I think most of the women look pretty good (especially the last and first)–so if surgery was included, I don’t really care (but it does defeat the purpose of the story).

Re. Lee Young-ae. I’ve seen her in some Hong Kong infotainment shows and she does look pretty ugly but she is indeed a big part of the Korean wave. However, I would say that it is WAY more likely that it is not the men, but the women who find her attractive–the key being in a non-threatening, homely way. Just like in China/HK the women find Maggie Cheung better looking than Gong Li.

Jeon Ji-Hyun’s before picture is pretty bad, as actually is the after photo. To really appreciate her, you need her whole body in the photo.

As for Noh’s surgery . . .well, Blepharoplasty can in fact be medically useful or even necessary. Looking at Noh’s pre-pics, he *is* kindof on the droopy side. The excess skin can begin blocking vision, and in some people the eyelashes are angled in such a way with single folds that it can also block the vision or even poke and irritate the eye (First Lady Kwon’s excuse ~ sheesh!) Still, considering the public reaction to his botoxed forehead (haha, NOTHING will subdue the mighty crease!) it’s pretty obvious that he needed some kind of excuse for something that would be mostly cosmetic. It is super weird looking on him though, isn’t it? Kindof like grandpa trying to be all “mi-nam” Creepy.
And because gossip is soooooooo much fun: I know somebody who attended school with and knew Jeon Ji-hyun. Eyes, nose, and chin have all benefited from a little something-something. I am giddy with evil delight knowing that she didn’t hatch out of a golden egg or spring from Jupiter’s helmet in all her perfection. She’s also supposed to be a bit of a b*tch, which also makes me feel better.

It amazes me that Western men do not realize, or are not admitting, why they are (PHYSICALLY) attracted to East Asian women. If this article’s comparison of photos doesn’t make it clear to you than you are either allowing the article to mislead you or you are lying to yourself.

As for Roh’s eyelid surgery, you have not lived until you have heard the Chosun’s (or any conservative’s) conspiracy theory on what really happened (the attempted assassination). Can’t remember if anyone around here or at Oranckay or wherever posted on that.

Hi nulji, proud son of the yemaek! Oh mighty kyopo warrior!

I think the women in the link are all pretty, both before and after. One thing I’ll give you and yours, nulji, is that you’re not half bad at breeding outstanding women.

I think Lee Young-ae is to Korea as Drew Barrymore is to the U.S. Both are cute in a homely type of way. I mean in Tae-jang-gum she was all a-ju-ma. And as for the whether these are real or not, they may not have had surgery before they started their careers, there are several things these people do to stay popular which involve scalpels, various beds, and various bribes. Nobody stays up there without them…

Plastic surgery is fine as long as its money well spent.

If Kim Tae Hee has had surgery then good on ya lassie! Though in her before photo she still has the same basic \”look\”. Facial symmetry and proportion is a large part of the appearance of beauty (the feeling that you can\’t add anything or take anything away).

Some of them look a bit daggy in the before photos… It\’s pretty obvious some money has been spent. Some students told me they had the double eyelid surgery done as high school graduation presents… looked alright. My gfs had it done and her eye stays open just a little when she sleeps. A bit unnerving actually.

Forgotten the woman\’s name from \”Old Boy\”. That was a poor decision to have surgery.
