Hookers, ganja and stars, oh my!

What the hell is this place? Las Vegas?

Three entertainers have been caught illegally operating a bar in southern Seoul in which they allegedly arranged sex between clients and other entertainers, in collaboration with an organized crime ring.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency (SMPA) said Tuesday the three operated the bar, in which scantily-clad waiters and waitresses danced, from February 2004 to September 2005.
Investigators said the suspects collaborated with a 43-year-old man, identified as Chung, who is a key figure in an organized crime ring.
Police said the three originally got local authority permission to operate the premises as a restaurant but converted it to an illegal sex bar.

About 10 entertainers are said to have been regular clients. Heidi Fleiss would have been proud.
Meanwhile, some more entertainers were busted for toking up:

Police are investigating three 26-year-old singers, Ha, Ko, and Kim, a 32-year-old actress, identified as Chang _ who voluntarily appeared at the police station _ and a 26-year-old man, identified as Park, Ha’s friend.
According to police, five entertainers, including Ko and Ha, allegedly smoked marijuana together at Ha’s house, beginning Oct. 15 last year.
Police said Ha inhaled cannabis 10 times, while Ko and Kim smoked it seven times.
Park has smoked the drug four times while Chang inhaled marijuana once.

Singers smoking pot? Whodathunkit?

No way! That kind of stuff doesn’t exist in Korea.

Legalize weed and prostitution — problem solved.

This is hardly even one joint. You can inhale more pot smoke standing on a corner in San Francisco, at any rock concert, or at a college party in the States.

Public urination is technically illegal in Korea too. Why not crack down on these public pissers?

    Oh. My. God.
Will someone think of the children??

What i dislike about this piece in the Korea Times is there’s never enough detail given to allow me to find the place after reading the story. The vernacular scandal sheets always give enough details, right down to the name of the place (like “Room Salon ‘D’ at the corner of Fifth and Elm not only has girls with very squeezable breasts, but also will paint your car while you wait, all for the price of W950,000″). That makes me think the scandal sheets are engaging in “advertorials” in exchange for payments to the reporters — just like our law office has recently been asked to “contribute” to a leading daily. If you see a story praising Seoul Law Group for its innovative and excellent lawyers, know that such a description is in fact true — but also be aware that just like the breathless true descriptions of scandalous services in Kangnam room salons, we weren’t picked at random.

Hilarious. “I smoked pot seven times,” “I smoked pot four times,” did they write in their diaries every time they got high? Most potheads can’t rememember how to get to White Castle when they have the munchies, let alone exactly the number of spliffs they smoked. “It is a nonsense” as the KT often says.

The Korean police do NOT understand drugs in any way. I had a few friends get busted for hash in Korea. They were given a two year suspended sentence and fined. The ridiculous thing is that they were fined 10,000 won for everytime they actually smoked the “hashish.”

So in their statements when they pled guilty, they had to state how many times they smoked up. One guy said 5 times, the other said 3 times, and one said something like 7 times. All of this was documented and they were fined accordingly.

The entire thing was completely ridiculous.

I’ve tried marijuana 37,614 times since 1975 and I fail to understand what the young folks see in it.

Korea needs some head shops! You can walk up to the counter and order an Oz of blueberry, and an Oz of Maui-wowie — but only for medical problems. :P This would definitely take care of the problems obtaining new “English teachers” coming to Korea. A big, phat-ass joint, and soju, then a full-course bulgogi meal!

    Remort!

“A big, phat-ass joint, and soju, then a full-course bulgogi meal!”

That sounds just like my evening yesterday. Except that it was in Vancouver, and it was kimchi jigae and mandu, not bulgogi.

The other difference from Korea was that the joint was cheap — unlike Korea — and the soju cost $15!

If you are looking for a quick deportation, play with the weed. I have heard of dealers singing like birds when they are in the cop shop. You will get a knock at your door and the dong parri will piss test you. Happy trails!
