Kwangdong Brian did a very interesting podcast recently with former compatriot Marcus of An Ex-Canadian in Korea. The two discuss Marcus’ decision to naturalize as a Korean citizen. Nary a properly pronounced diphthong between the two of them ![]()
Anyway, be sure to give it a listen.

So, how much does a Canadian passport sell for on the blackmarket?
What to do? What to do? A Korean girlfriend/wife, that doesn’t want to live in Canada/U.S./Australia/U.K./Japan. Become a Korean! I’m sure he has his own reasons for the decision, but it seems advantageous to remain Canadian (no matter how humiliating it may seem) and simply continue doing visa runs. Korea’s & Canada’s divorce rate is fairly high, and increasing…
I enjoyed listening to his interview. I wish him all the luck and happiness in the world! This is one brave fellow.
I wouldn’t welcome him to be Korean.
Does this mean he has to take the maple leaf off his backpack?
Just wait, next year the Toronto Maple Leafs will win the Stanley Cup! Bwahahahahaha!
