Is that a 삼겹살 restaurant?

3 HansaraminVancouver May 6, 2006 at 3:32 am

Sounds very zest.

Yuppers.

There’s absolutely nothing sexy about Korean pork dishes.

Better than Soylent Green.

I guess you aren’t very inventive in the bedroom then.

Classic. However, I do prefer my pigs with a little less make-up than the one on the sign has on. Something more of the ‘au natural’ look.

Not even after few rounds of Soju?

Oh man, the English on signs in Seoul. There’s a “Spurt Sports” shop in Mapo, a “Shanghai Load” dumpling place in Chongno…even better to me are the menu translations in front of some of the restaurants. “Braised cow entrails,” “cold gruel,” “marine products.” If I wasn’t so lazy I’d do a whole blog dedicated to the Engrish signs.

in gwangju there is the “cock” 닭갈비 , theres a small chain of them here.

While we’re at it, the Fresco chain of Italian restaurants used to offer “Cock” and “Diet Cock” beverages in both large and small.

That sign, with the accompanying picture, has always cracked me up! By the way, there’s a very good so-kalbi restaurant just up the street from that restaurant.

If anyone does a “funny business names” site, they must definitely include the “Linda Booti Pang” building in Apkujeong-dong, close to the Hyundae Department store.

And you could order it in small or large sizes. I had water.

ain’t nothin’ like an ice cold cock to cool ya’ down on a hot summer’s day.

I’ve been there before but the samgyeop sal on the other side of the railroad is better… :)

Michael, How about Donkey fried chicken, and my all time favorite road bugger, it’s a burger joint over in Hongjea

20 jd May 7, 2006 at 4:59 am

it’s now a dream of mine to open a restaurant just so i can fill the menu with all kinds of funny misspellings and close-but-very-different words. but i have a feeling that i’m not the only one who has thought of this… Large Cock! That’s not a mistake, it’s a marketing tool.

21 michael May 7, 2006 at 9:32 am

Donkey Fried Chicken…and Pelican Chicken, another disturbing one. A guy I used to work with always talked about “Road Bugger” but I haven’t seen that one yet.

Robert: while seeing these things occasionally these things are funny, I hope you won’t turn this into a tedious Japundit-style series of weird English.

Yeah, I often just scroll past those now on Japundit. :-/
That blog really needs to pick up…

That was my favourite restaurant in Seoul a few years back, but I thought it had died and gone to siktang heaven when they redeveloped that centre-strip in Hongdae (er… I mean turned it into a car park). It lives! I’ll be pestering you for the exact location of the new premises next time I’m in Seoul.
