did i get the translation right for what was written underneath the picture?
“Even if you have a nice car you still have to drive safely.”
looking at the other cars in the picture, and the fact that the yellow car hit the front of the black car, it sort of looks like driving the wrong way down a two-way street does not meet the minimum standards for “driving safely.”
I saw a nice blue ferrari that had suffered a similar accident while driving today…. Just because you can go fast doesn’t mean you should do so all the time.
Buying and driving car like that on Korean roadways is like wearing a tuxedo to paint your house. Is there a Korean equivalent for “A fool and his money are soon parted?”
Well, Yahoo lists the sticker price for the newest base model of the car shown as $288,000. Who knows what it would actually cost in Korea, what with the cost of ‘luxury taxes’, import duties, (bribes)… Of course, with an awe-inspiring EPA-estimated 9 mpg (!!!) for in-city driving as well as Korea’s rather pricey gasoline (by USA standards, anyhow), the pocketbook of anyone who would drive such a thing doesn’t stop hurting even after it’s paid off. At least the driver (and his insurance company) might take some consolation in the fact that the model shown appears to be the coupe version, rather than the roadster (which would cost about $30k more).
All said… ouch. I certainly hope the driver of the car learns what a bad idea it is to enter the incoming traffic lanes (probably because traffic isn’t going fast enough for him). If so… One down, countless thousands to go.
Anyone still wondering why rich men here are not allowed to fly choppers, despite all the H landings on top of many high-rises? Imagine the constant rain of debris from high up…

Hi. Long time lurker, first time commenter.
jd, the phrase reads more like: “no matter how good your car performs, you should still drive safely.”

anyone know how much a car like that would cost? i wonder what the breakdown would be in terms of actual cost and then the taxes thrown on top.

what’s really funny is that the black car looks like it has minimal damage compared to the other one
i think the amount of damage to the fancy car has to do with the fact that it’s made mostly out of tinfoil buffed to a high finish.
it’s a fun piece of tinfoil to drive around… outside of korea.
Looks like no more “ya-ta”ing for awhile.

Too right - and I guess that’s no ‘jok’ to the owner.
So, what make of car is it?
Lamborghini Murcielago
Where’s green tape when we need it?

Robert, was that you I saw at lunchtime today toddling down Jongno toward Kwanghwamoon wearing a kaeryang hanbok?
I believe so.
Let’s do lunch.
C’mon now, don’t be that way.
Alright…. have your people talk to my people.
