A Hong Kong entertainment magazine claims to have caught super-fly actress Gong Li–who is married, BTW–fooling around with some foreign dude in Tienanmen Square. In broad daylight, no less!
See, she learns English, and this is what happens. Shameless. I say, blame Miami Vice.
The magazine said the actress looked “happy like a young girl in love.”
After their little sightseeing tour, the couple apparently went back to Gong Li’s place, where they didn’t come out for two days.
Remember–if it’s in the Hong Kong tabloids, it must be true.

To many Chinese, a famous actress being mauled by a (gasp) foreigner (/gasp) is BAD SHIT, all the more so since it happened on such hallowed ground.

At least, in our culture, it is the man who marries up. Man are ambitious and they want to marry someone to climb up the social ladder. Women are often times “given away” by their families. In India for example, the woman’s family had to pay money to the man’s family to “beg” the man to marry the woman.
I don’t mean to demean Gong Li, but a 30 something divorcee dating a 20 something, guess who has the short end of the stick. Well, maybe Gong Li can afford ‘him’.
The Chinese are as bad about that as the Koreans.
I’ve seen Malay marriage ceremonies. It is basically a contract signing ceremony between the groom and his father-in-law with the women-folk sitting off to the side.
Assuming the woman in the photo actually is Gong Li, I’d say that 20-something dude is probably quite happy and most likely not even thinking of marriage. Oh, and Gong Li is probably getting the long end of the stick…finally.
