Revisionism and Kenkanryu

Yes, it’s another MUST READ courtesy Matt

This time, the man behind Gusts of Popular Feeling discusses the “Kenkanryu,” the Japanese comic book whose title means either “Hate the Korean Wave” or “Hate Korean Wave.” Anyway, as always with Matt, you’re in for a really long post with lots of fun links.

You know what surprises me, mulchy?

The number of educated Koreans who actually believe in phrenology!

I never heard so much talk about 두상 in my life.

That site does a very good job analyzing and rebutting a lot of the points made by the kooks. Many people can’t read it because they’re not translated into English or Korean, and not too many people can read Japanese. So we can only relie on third party sources. I hope they do put it in English and sell it in Barns and Noble. Let the American public see and decide for themselves. I heard the author of the comic book is not only anti Korean and anti Chinese, he’s also anti American.

cm, sorry to inform you that the American public could care less about a grudge contest between Japan and Korea.

I’m having trouble accessing the link because something inside it keeps freezing up Safari for Mac. I then tried it on a Windows-using machine, and I still had it freezing up.

Matt, do you know what’s behind this?

kushibo, try using FireFox on your Mac. I accessed it no problem using that.

Dogbert, this is the REAL Matt, the other is a poor substitute.

Or am I the make-believe Matt? Sometimes I’m not sure.

Kushibo, I’m actually having a lot of problems with that post, code-wise. It keeps tossing up (I’ll replace “

D’oh. OK, so I won’t provide examples of the coding errors. Enough to say that blogger seems to keep tossing up superfluous code (multiplied by 1000) and that’s the source of the problem. IE can’t handle it, but Mozzilla and Firefox seem to have no problems. I’ll give it another once over to see if the problem can’t be fixed.

Oh, I added an update by posting a link to a Korean scanlation of Kenkanryu.

Speaking of phrenology, you ever wonder why Koreans seem to have the logical reason capability of a rabid chimp even when the size of their heads are about twice as big as the normal human being? Gotta wonder about all that wasted grey matter…must be from all the dog meat and soju.

Koreans are such interesting creatures…I think it’s so cute when someone comes in and shoves their racist bigotry in their own faces and they start to go crazy, yell, scream, shout profanities, make rude comments about other nationalties (ie. typical Korean behavior). I love getting under their skin…it’s so funny to seem them get riled up angry.

You’ve done nothing of the sort. All you’ve done is show that you’re a racist bigot yourself. Anyway, take your issues somewhere else, please.

This book can fool some of Japanese including young generation all the time, and all of Japanese (and young generation) some of the time, but It cannot fool all of them for all the time.
