On the tabloid crap front

  • Sports Seoul reports that Chinese netizens are in shock after a Chinese flight attendant, posting anonymously, castigated actress Zhang Ziyi for her poor in-flight behavior. According to the attendant, she’s a great big bitch. Even funnier, though, was the attendants commentary on Zhang. “Zhang’s figure is as awkward as her acting. She’s got a small chest and a big ass, and because her legs are too thin, she looks awful. Moreover, in addition to her thin and somewhat bent waist, her face is full of unsightly warts.”
    Dude, that’s harsh.
Apparently, Zhang-bashing is something of a cottage industry, especially in Hong Kong. At this point, it seems she can do no right, although Jake Gyllenhaal reportedly digs her. But then again, if you’ve spent six months of your life making out with Heath Ledger, anyone with boobs–regardless of how small–has got to look good.
  • Well, as you all know, Britney Spears’ songwriters are bitching that Korean pop star Lee Hyori’s songwriter ripped off their work (hat tip to reader):

Universal Music Publishing Korea, the company that handles South Korean copyrights for Spears’ music, said her songwriters had complained that “Get ya,” performed by Lee Hyo-lee, sounded similar to a song they wrote for the 24-year-old pop singer titled, “Do Something.”
“Get ya” was the lead song on Lee’s second album, which was released last month. Spears released “Do Something” in February 2005.
Kevin Cho, general manager of Universal Music Publishing Korea, said Spears’ songwriters claim the Korean track had been “partially plagiarized” and the company sent their complaint to Lee’s composer, Kim Do-hyun.

Kim denies the charge, of course:

Kim has said he was influenced by the Spears’ song, but denied copying directly from it. He wasn’t immediately available for comment Wednesday.

What type of sad world do we live in when there are people so desperate for material that they’re ripping off even Mrs. Federline’s shit. Although I like Max Raabe’s cover of “Oops I Did It Again.” Got it on my iAudio, in fact.

I didn’t see any warts on Zhang’s face, but then, I was too busy staring at her big ass. :)

I glanced over the article and didn’t notice any mention of the airline. My guess is it was Cathay Pacific.

    Gotta love catfights. Meeeeow!

You go ZZ! Don’t let ‘em bring you down!

Hey, at least they’re moving away from ripping J-Pop, or are they?

I read the English-version of the Lee/Spears knock-off article and the Korean writers admitted that they had set out to make a “Korean version” of the Brittany Spears song.

It is sad when people feel they must rip off weak music and sure does not help the Korean industry at all; it is pure “dan-ta-ra”.

i think that all disputes should be “fought” through quotes. like, the korean pop song writers could argue that —

“Bad artists copy. Good artists steal.”-Pablo Picasso

and it could just sort of go from there…
