Hey, don’t wipe your boots with that!

It has been belated learned that the UN Command moved the flags of Korean War participants that were placed on the table of one of the conference rooms in the JSA after two North Korean soldiers used two of them (no mention of which, although one could probably guess one of them) to wipe their boots in March 2001. Or so said the UN Command, according to the Munhwa Ilbo.
The flags have since been framed and hung on the wall.
And one of the commenters to the piece said a funny:

This was pretty cute, too:

BTW, a lot of the angry responses are due to the fact that Naver’s link to the story made it appear that the North Koreans had wiped their boots with the South Korean flag. Which they might have, for all we know.

On a recent visit to Panmunjom, the guides pointed out footprints could been clearly seen on all the tables. Apparently the NK guards go into the blue huts at night time, take their boots off, and walk around on the tables, for what reason I’m not entirely sure…

I was enjoying some of the comments under the article about the detained SBS reporter too. It’s nice to see a different side in the Netizen’s comments.

    Roughly,

“Why should we unite with such a worthless country? They should just get absorbed into China.”

“North Korea is really a cult … Let’s not bother anymore with this ridiculous ‘we are one people’ nonsense. Even the Vietnamese brides mail ordered for rural husbands are closer to us.”

Now back to the salt mines ….
