N.K. claims right to pre-emptive strikes

North Korea, apparently miffed by joint exercises between U.S. and South Korean forces, warned the United States that Washington does not have a monopoly on the right to launch pre-emptive strikes:

“The KPA side is of the view that a pre-emptive attack is not (the) monopoly of the U.S. and the DPRK, too, has the right to pre-empt an attack as the most effective and positive act for self-defense in the light of the hard reality that the DPRK and the U.S. sides are still technically at war,” the spokesman was cited as saying.

OK. Duly noted.
In related news, North Korean air defenses went on high alert when an unidentified object entered North Korean airspace and failed to respond to repeated warnings. Tensions settled, however, when the object turned out to be Lee Seung-yeop’s first-inning homerun ball. The ball landed safely somewhere in the high Taekbaeks without incident.

NK also reminded Japan earlier this year that if Japan were to impose sanctions, NK will take a “physical response” method.

How about we just pre-emptive strike them now and get it over with. I can’t believe Bush was so interested in Iraq when NK was still an issue. He invades Iraq and now NK says they’ll attack because they know the US will attack them. However had he attacked NK first, Hussein probably would have said, “whoa whoa.. maybe we should talk about things here” since he’s not the lunatic that Kim^2 seems to be.

Wasn’t North Korea’s first pre-emptive strike in 1950? And haven’t the USFK spent the past 50 years preparing for a North Korean pre-emptive strike? The reality is that pre-emptive strikes aren’t an American invention. Every country uses them. The difference is that Uncle Sam spends a lot of time getting approval from other countries - the US is more a world groveler than a world leader. Countries that are not the US generally just invade - wars generally go a lot smoother if you have the element of surprise.

    Zhang Fei,

Though I love the idea of pre-emptive strike on NK, you do not understand the US. America is a Christian nation. We do not harrass small guys or shoot somebody from the back while he is not looking.

Christians try to obey God of Justice and Mercy.

In this respect, the US is different from other so-called Christian countries, even from England and Canada. The US is special; the nation tries to do good to other countries as much as she can.

America, God has shed grace on thee.

What for? I thought it was already clear that Bush
has his own private communication line to Jesus, God,
the Holy Spirit or whatever it is that wants swarthy
people to be massacred and tortured these days…
    Just like Tony Blair does.

In no way am I endorsing Bush or that limey Blair, but it does seem like “swarthy people” are being massacred in far greater numbers by other swarthy people than by Bushie et al.

    Dat’s a fair point.
and they ALL say God told ‘em to do it…
I’d think God is gettin’ pretty sick of that.

    Sanshinseon,

We, christians including Bush, think 1)there is God, 2)Jesus is a Savior, and 3)He must be introduced to the Middle Eastern countries.

You may say that we are no better than the Moslem terrorists who brought the 9/11 to spread the message that Mohamet is THE PROPHET. In a sense, that is correct. Both sides have powerful message to tell the rest of the world. There is a spiritual war going on between Christians and Moslems.

Christian message (We believe it originated from God) will spread to the Middle East in the end, not by violence, but by bringing people up to the modern world through economic, political and religious changes. And, through education.

They will come to know eventually that Jesus is the Messiah.

I’d pay to watch cage matches between Christians and Muslims :) You guys battle it out and when you’re all gone, the Buddhists take over :) :) :)

  1. N. Korea Yells Pre-emption…

It’s difficult to take Pyongyang’s drama-queen rhetoric seriously. Yet, it appears the North Korean leadership has fired what is most likely blank rhetoric about pre-emptively striking South Korea that hard-liners in Washington may use as ammunition….
