As you’ve no doubt heard, the Korean baseball team is pissed because it feels MLB gave the Japanese team better accommodation in Phoenix. Probably the best line of the piece:
A Korean Baseball Organization official explained that it was not because there was a mix-up or discrimination, but simply because Phoenix has few deluxe hotels. It could be just that: a simple misunderstanding. But still, not everybody can wave things off as easily.
You. Don’t. Say.
On a positive note, judging from some of the recent reports Stateside (like this one), the team shouldn’t have to venture too far from their fleabag hotel for some home-style sports massage service.

Talk about a manufactured story. Probably a slow news day and a blatant attempt to sell newspapers by injecting Japan into the argument.
I don’t know (or care), but I’d hazard a prediction that a key but compromising or story-killing fact is being withheld by the Dong-a reporter here — something like a missed tournament hotel application deadline or some negligence by the team’s travel agent.
According to another Korean media report, the team Japan got a slightly bigger hotel, because the team Japan has more people than the team Korea has, as simple as it is. WBC arranged hotels based on the size of team, and the two hotels were all 3 stars. BTW, the deluxe hotels (4 or 5 stars) were already booked by the other Tool (B?) team.
Looking at the picture of players (the link), I notice that Korean players are all metrosexual. They wear necklaces, fancy white shirts and tight black suits. I don’t usually like metrosexual men, but they look fine, and I love the team Korea. Go Korea, Go!
I can’t find any of this hotel controversy in Korean but only in english edition of Dong A Ilbo…. Korean people are unaware of this hotel controversy because it is not even an issue in Korea. no one talks about it because no one gives a shit and no one knows about it…… We are just delighted that we beat Japan and hope to do it again in America…
“Waaa, our hotel isn’t as good as the Japanese hotel. Their rooms are $50 more expensive. Waaa.”
For chrissakes, this is taking an inferiority complex too far.
Actually, the joke is the Phoenix area is bursting with 5-star resorts, and neither team is staying in one of them. But, they are there to play baseball, not golf, after all.
