That was a quick 30 years

Next time, Suzuki Ichiro may wish to ponder the wisdom of trash talking.

That was a good game…things will get a lot more interesting when they play the “Pool B” team.

Ichiro’s actual comment “I would like to win, and make fans feel “how great Baseball really is”. I’d like to win in the way the opponents would think they cannot win against Japan for the next 30 years. That’s how I’d like to play.”

There is nothing offensive or trashtalking in it, and He didn’t specifically target the Korean team but just show his serious attitude toward WBC. I feel sorry for Koreans repeatedly misinformed by Korean Media.

I can’t find the thirty-year quote, but in this Fox Sports piece, he appears to be saying a lot of positive things about Korea’s team.

What would Hall of Famers like Ichiro with 12 consective years of over 3.00 average/200 hits and many other titles keep motivating himself? He wishes Baseball would be back in Olympic again, he worries that more Japanese kids are choosing Soccer over Baseball, he is frustrated by his souless Seahawks teammates, and he become awared that foreign players in MLB are not treated equally to the US born players…

But to make Baseball what it was used to be, he knows he has to keep playing Baseball with his best attitude. He was only commenting toward Japanese audienced that he is taking WBC seriously. I just hate to see Ichiro’s lofty manner (toward baseball) is tainted by some korea-centric dirty minds calls his comment “trash-talking”.

While the Seahawks may or may not be soulless, I believe Ichiro’s team is called the Mariners.

I think the next round may some little tidbits to follow as well. It will be interesting to see if Japan will retaliate for the plunking of Ichiro…and the smiles and high fives in the dugout that followed.

Will add the disclaimer that the highlights were watched with the sound off. Not too sure if any context was added.
