Old Korea through photographs

MUST SEE!!!

Came across one Korean blogger’s online gallery of photographs by Jeong Hae-chang (1907-1968), a pioneer of Korean art photography who specialized in landscape photos capturing the beauty of Korea in the 1930s. Anyway, be sure to take a look at the link–you’re unlikely to find photos that more vividly capture life in old Korea.

BTW, there will be an exhibit of Joeng’s work next month at the Hanmi Art Museum in Seoul.

    Thank you very much Robert for the pictures. They are astounding!

    I am very much displeased that my modern day neighborhood looks dirtier than many of these pictures, shame on modern Koreans!

    I think the problem is with modern man in general, although there was plenty of dirt, filth and abject squalor back then, too. Regardless, the photos were amazing. My jaw dropped when I saw them.
