That sucks. One of my friends was killed there. It's got quite a fearsome reputation.

Here's to friends lost.

Sonagi--It's of interest to me (and perhaps me alone), because I'm from Long Island and I lived in Tanzania.

Hear, hear! These blogs of ours may all be Korea-related, but for those of us who have spent a good portion of our lives in some additional "hometown," what happens there is news we might sometimes want to share. I stick a few Orange County things on my blog, plus a lot of OC references.

If you ever got around to making a blog, I'm sure you'd include a lot of references to wherever it is you're from.

Anyway, Marmot, that is a tragedy. And I know the weirdness of the double connection to something like that.

I'm from East Islip, hometown of Boomer Esiason.

Sonagi--It's of interest to me (and perhaps me alone), because I'm from Long Island and I lived in Tanzania. And oddly enough, this is the second time in less than a year that a Long Islander has met an untimely end in an East African locale that I've been to--late last year, a Long Island woman passed away while in Kabale, Uganda. Which, BTW, is a beautiful town.

The Marmot's from Long Island? I didn't know that. Whereabouts? I lived in Westbury for the first few years of my life. Don't consider it my "hometown," though. That would be upstate.

Why would this story be of interest to Marmot regulars? I know you're from Long Island, but...
