They are giving incredibly high scores for Hyundai.

Go look at the technical specs of this technical achievement before accusing them of something shady. Hyundai =/= Hwang.

I smell payoff, too. Koreans are known to wine, dine and push an white(this is an official color) envelope. JDPowers' executives got some of those envelopes, it seems.

Besides Korea-bashing sentiment, what is the basis here. This is a bullshit reaction that is nothing more than the other side of the coin of uber-nationalism among some Koreans.

To one group, Korea can do no right (so pick apart whatever apparent achievement comes out of there). To the other group, Korea is always right (so pick apart anyone who says otherwise).

Welcome to the echo chamber.

Right now, the only basis for questioning the JD Power reports is that the company in question is Korean. Give me something more solid, Baduk or Daehan Miguk.

Kushibo,

Sorry but I have to agree with DaeHan Miguk. I am very suspicious of JDPowers as well. They are giving incredibly high scores for Hyundai.

I smell payoff, too. Koreans are known to wine, dine and push an white(this is an official color) envelope. JDPowers' executives got some of those envelopes, it seems.

Baduk, perhaps this was also the case with Hyundai's recent (and very surprising) rise in the JDPower auto rankings? Nobody it seems is totally beyond rearranging some ink for a handsome pocketful.

Wow, Daehan Miguk, this really disorients you, doesn't it?

Given a number of factors long in the works, it is only surprising to people like you.

It is like an automobile engineer goes to learn about "new" Hyundai engine. He wrote an important article about the superiority of and the inner-workings about Korean engine. He got paid handsomely by Hyundai. He even asked the half of all money Hyundai will get from selling "new" engine to the western world.

Later on, he says he has never seen the engine. Koreans gave him the data on the performance of the engine and he just wrote that in his report. Yet, he put his name as the person who the westerners should contact for any questions on the Korean engine. He wrote that he guarantees the quality of the engine, even though when the trouble surfaced he claimed he only translated Korean article.

He is an automobile engineer specializing the car engines. Yet, he has not seen the engine? Wow, is that true?

He knew that there was no Korean engine and he played along. There was a lot money flowing. Why not cut some slack, to his Korean friends? Nobody will know.

Young Korean scientists were too smart. He had no chance.

The latest Hwang-a-rama: the journal Nature said it is investigating the dog now--it's doing a mitochondria test on the DNA of Snuppy to see if it's a clone or a twin dog made from a split embryo, and says it will announce the results next month.

The latest meme I heard at the office today: "Hwang and Schatten are both frauds." Expect to see the idea that the foreign partner is just as fraudulent from here on, with textbooks in 20 years blaming it all on Schatten.

I may have been the first to say here that Schatten shouldn't get a free pass, but to say he's equivalent to Hwang in this clusterf**k stretches the truth past the breaking point. These expenses may be entirely legitimate and standard practice (I'm not in that line of work) and, considering the source, the report could be fiction. Anyway, expect the Korean media to throw as much dirt at Schatten as possible.
