Comedian and "3rd-rate writer" Kim Yong is pissed, and he wants his movie back. Kim held a one-man demonstration in front of the U.S. embassy (surprise, surprise) yesterday claiming Universal Pictures ripped off the idea for the film "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" from a scenario he wrote.

For some reason, this article has me giggling uncrontrollably. yet… I admire the guy for being so serious about being a doofus

Now that’s funny!
And I imagine the answer is, “because you can’t take stuff from a first rate writer.”
The very concept of a “40 year-old virgin” is comical and amusing to most westerners (hence the hilarity of the Steve Carell film), but among the Koreans I know it might not be considered so weird. Most of the lawyers (I’d say upward of 80%) with whom I’ve worked over the years have claimed to have been virgins up until the day they married — in their mid-30s.
I’m not sure how widespread the practice is, but I’ve heard that very many guys lose their virginity when in the military by getting their first taste of prostitutes. Since it’s such an easy thing to do in this country, I wonder how many claims of ‘innocence’ are real.
Funny stuff. He should take his one-man protest to Vegas, maybe open for Carrot Top.
