Most Korean "JoPoks" these days are more show than substance. Their heydays are over. Hopefully it will stay that way, 'cuz I hate parasites.

Kind of funny you should say that, because I was doing some reading on Kim Doo-han the other day when I came across this 2002 interview with Kim Dong-hoe, who used to be Kim's No. 2 during the good old days of organized crime. Yep, they definitely don't make 'em like they used to.

I saw a bunch of Korean "gangsters" on the Hill once with the slicked-back hair, wide lapel suits, gold chains -- I wonder if they consciously copy Hollywood gangsters. The only frightening thing about them was two overweight guys with them wearing slippers and bicycle shorts....

Hopefully, the Korean prosecutor's office steps up to the job like they did in the past against the Korean "JoPoks."
