(By guest blogger, Andy Jackson)
UPATE: Tim Peters, Kang Chol-hwan and former Hangcheongnyeon (I hope I spelled that right) member Kim Young-Hwan will be the main speakers.
Those who missed Dr Lankov’s lecture on North Korea last Tuesday will have another chance. Liberation in North Korea (LiNK), is sponsoring several lectures on human rights in North Korea this Saturday.
Date: 2005, November 26th 13:00-18:00 (That is 1:00 to 6:00.)
Venue: Sogang University, Matthew Hall, Room 104
As an added bonus, you will get to meet me. I will be there for at least the first half of the lectures.

Andy,
Have any of you guys thought about videoing some of this stuff and geting it up on the web?
I’ve got some space and bandwidth on the usinkorea.org site, and after watching the CNN special on North Korea, I decided I no longer had the excuse of being preoccupied with other studies to keep the North Korea human rights issue at arm’s lengeth, and I was prodded enough to decide to focus much more attention on the issue.
(I’d be willing to host some video if it were sent to me. But, I might imagine the LiNK people have more resources and site space than I do???)
I am one of what I am sure are many people who would like to see events like this but are not in country or able to get to it.
It also shouldn’t be hard to do at least basically either. Stick up a digital camcorder on a tripod and press record.
Of course, it would be better if you had one of the members there to change the shots a little, but bascially, what I mean is, look at how useful C-Span is as a service and how basic it handles coverage of the very same type conferences….
Besides giving some bandwidth and storage space, I’d also be willing to do some editing of the video as well. I can imagine it would be something like offering both a full unedited version individual presentations and an edited version with several presentations together with key issues or quesions raised dictating the edit.
I’m working on setting up a North Korea human rights off-shoot of the http://www.usinkorea.org site.
(I’d prefer to divorce the two issues altogether, but I’m not going to pay two business fees a month to host two different sites whether I want to keep them as seperate as issues as I possibly can or not….)
Let me know what you think and if there are people who work on North Korean human rights that would like to use the offer.

Does anybody know who will be speaking there?
I just found out that Kang Chol-hwan and Time Peters will be the main speakers. They are both important leaders in the movement for human rights in North Korea.
There will also be several other speakers and a short film.
It is going to be a good program.
I’d love to make this. He will be talking for 6 hours? Seems like a long lecture!
