Interested-Participant -- Hey, I kept my Wordpress site for quite a while. And it's not like I chose to move -- I was evicted.

As for Blogger, it's not a bad system, especially the paid service. The only issue I had with it was that it occassionally ate archived posts, but it's been a while since I used it, so they may have corrected that issue since then. As for being a "no-no" of professional bloggers, well, Andrew Sullivan uses it (paid version, parket at his own domain), so I guess it can't be that bad.

There is something I don't get. I actually like the Blogger software, and think that it does a fine job -- for free (I know, I know, there ain't nothin' free in this world).

But it seems like using it is some sort of violation of a "professional" blogger taboo. What gives? What's the big hang-up?

Why are so many so adamant that using free service like Blogger is a no-no?

Richardson,

I've looked at lunarpages and they're very reasonably priced but with my inherent laziness, it's just too easy to stay with a known good thing (typepad) instead of learning something new. And the thought of having to manually move all my existing posts, comments and pics over make me hesitate even more. Of course, the longer I wait, the worse it'll be, right?
