EU to submit NK human rights resolution to UN

It appears the EU will be introducing a draft resolution expressing concern about North Korean human rights abuses to the UN General Assembly next month. The Chosun Ilbo reportedly got a copy of the draft resolution, which “expressed serious concern about North Korea’s rejection of UN humanitarian deliveries from the end of the year and urges the North to give humanitarian groups full access to the country so they can monitor much-needed aid.”

Seoul, of course, will likely abstain from voting.

How about?€? you know it?€™s bad when even the people who wanted to keep Sadam in power in order sell him overpriced crap and buy his oil cheap are taking any sort of action against North Korea?€? and SK is sitting it out. Is that better?

As opposed to invading the country, killing 2,000 of your own soldiers and counting in the process, in order to get the oil cheap, give Halliburton some juicy contracts, and establish more bases in yet another country that needs food, not GIs?

    Sweet, thread drift…

I’m curious about the language of the resolution is, although, let’s face it, most UN resolutions aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on. And South Korea’s pretty much lost any moral authority it might claim on the issue. (See, e.g., the well-documented mouthings of the present and previous Unification Ministers)

To continue the thread drift, the conservatives might want to continue the cheese eatin’ jokes into new ways.

    i.e.

Bratwurst eatin’ “insert verb here” monkeys
    Tulip plantin’ ” monkeys
    Paella eatin’ ” monkeys
    Pasta eatin’ ” monkeys

Oh jeez, i can’t count how many countries are in EU and what they eat over there so I’m not very good with thse jokes.

I’m not really so much against the villification of France (really, i thought it was funny when i first saw it) as much as the conservative’s lack of humor in implementing a trully biting put-down.

Liberals have Jon Stewert. The only conservative funny man I can think of is O’Reilly over at fair and balanced. Except that he’s only funny because he actually takes himself seriously.

Let’s focus on the true problem here:

    kimchi eatin’ appeasement monkeys.
