{Writer’s Note — The images associated with this post are likely to cause great emotional distress to anyone who even remotely enjoys the company of our domesticated feline friends. I decided to post this to The Marmot’s Hole instead of Migukin because I felt the story needed more publicity than it would be currently afforded otherwise.}

It’s not often that an image makes me physically ill, but that’s just what happened when I viewed the pictures of a cat with a nail sticking out of its head. Migukin staff Korean translator KHK helped me translate the following from a Korean press site. Any errors in the translation are mine not hers. Please take a deep breath and think twice before you look at the pictures. They are extremely unsettling.
Seoul, Songpa-gu
In an apartment complex [in Seoul ] there were some cats who were hit on their foreheads and backs with nails and policemen are trying to figure out what’s going on.
A Seoul police officer said one apartment resident called and said one cat got shot on his back by a nail gun. The police officer thought someone intentionally tried to slay cats so they are investigating it.
The attack of the cats was first disclosed in late July by a SBS program. During the program they were showing us one cat got hit by a big nail on its forehead and the policeman tried to rescue the cat. So many viewers got furious about what they saw. After the show, the policeman got several more calls and so the program showed another cat that got hit by a nail on its tummy. To date, there have been three cats involved in this situation. The three cats were all found around the same apartment complex.
Police assume the individual or individuals involved have psychological problems or a hatred of animals. They are investigating around the apartment complex, but there are no known witnesses. They have no clues so far. One person interviewed by police said the nail is a special one used in construction. If police find those involved, they will charge them in violation of the nation’s animal welfare law.
The reason this gives me the willies is that if some scumbag feels comfortable attacking a cat, what’s to stop them from taking the next logical step and going after the only thing cuter than a cat — a human child?

Sorry I keep changing the headline — the first one was too scary, the second was too flip and the third one feels just right.
That sounds like a job for Great Teacher Onizuka.
Maybe, but not the Korean translation version of GTO (?°???????§?§?). They censored most of the interesting stuff, so the story doesnt even make sense.
Nice to know someone is nailing some Korean pussy out there!

The only comment this entry will ever need.
I believe that’s one of the classic warning signs of a sociopath…
I believe that?s one of the classic warning signs of a sociopath??
That is correct. People who enjoy or regularly hurt animals often go on to become violent criminals. I also believe that most serial killers have a history of violence against animals. Hope they catch this person soon.
I would bet that it is a Korean student.

haha! GTO would make wear women’s panties and then crucify ‘em on the main gate of the closest girls’ high school. that’s real justice, man!

Is the next logical step really a human child? That sounds like fear-mongering to me. Surely a dachshund, or perhaps even a beagle, would be first.
All joking aside, was the big warning at the top of the article really necessary? I was fearing a gruesome series of photos, and surely didn’t expect to see a relatively cognitive-looking cat.
The act was by all means cruel, but the images are far from shocking (unless I missed some). The unnecessary warning at the top of the article gives one the mistaken impression that the link contains images akin to a beheading.
To me, the sight of a functioning cat with a nail sticking out of its head is like a kick to my gut. The sight of that poor cat’s eyes telling me, “It hurts, it hurts so much….” is pretty close to pure terror as I know it.
But then, I’m a cat lover.
I have two cats myself, and let me tell you, if i saw someone doing that to any cat, nevermind my own, i would answer for my actions.
*sigh* OOT, but i still don’t get why i have a Finnish flag near my nickname, when i’m posting from Portugal!

Yeah, I was actually quite relieved to see the cat still alive and that they had gotten the nail out.
I guess I put the warning there ’cause of what it did to ME. My girlfriend sent me the pictures of the cats and I was flabbergasted.
