New Korean Ambassador to US named

According to Yonhap, the next ambassador to the US will be Vice Foreign Minister Lee Tae-sik, a career diplomat and former deputy executive director of KEDO (the Koean Energy Development Organization).

As you may recall, KEDO was in charge of building two light water reactors in Sinpo, North Korea under the terms of the 1994 Agreed Framework. Since that project is now officially dead, there is little chance that Lee will be needed at his old gig.

In any case, after what happened with Hong Seok-hyun (the previous ambassador to the US), Lee is a nice, quiet save, pick.
