Prosecutors are asking for prison terms of two years and one year, six months for two members of the indie group Couch for their involvement in Gochu-gate.
Ouch.

Good lord! I seriously hope that they don’t make some kid sit in jail for two years for this.
If they want to be strict, for whatever reason, perhaps a fine and some community service. But putting a law-abiding young artist or student in real jail, with real criminals, for flashing his gochu — even if it was on TV — is absurd.
What do you kids think the response of the Federal Communications Commission would be if Justin Timberlake had pulled out his wee pecker during the Super Bowl and waved it at America? Would Americans shrug that kind of thing off?
In the States, there would be a massive fine for indecency (like a million bucks or more) and Timberlake would be “fired from show business” — at least for a while.
The Korean system is not much on civil remedies such as fines. Instead, Korea prosecutes almost all misconduct as a crime. This is definitely a fair application of the Korean legal system. The tragedy will be that these clowns are in jail two years from now while Chyung Dai-Chul is on the loose as he has been for three weeks now.
So the Weenie Boys get hard time (no pun intended), Chyung Dai-Chul gets a “get out of jail free” card from Roh, and that’s show business in S. Korea. If I was a lawyer here I’d go on a shooting spree.
Oh, and they let Chyung back into the inner circle of Roh-nothings: http://joongangdaily.joins.com.....09031.html
What a country.
I believe most Koreans would think the prosecutors are being overly aggressive.
This will only make the prosecutors look like pricks and bullies in the public’s eyes.
My girlfriend still believes that at the core of this lies some Samsung money — that Samsung paid the members of The Couch to wiggle their willies on TV so Koreans would stop thinking about the big bruhaha the company is currently involved in.
By that logic, all the ajossis that expose themselves when they piss on the streets of Seoul should do prison too….
They’ll have plenty of chance to expose themselves to an appreciative audience in the big house.
What’s with the superfluous “y” in that name? Almost as bad as that “One-ki” fellow.
I wonder what the punishment would be if someone did this in Singapore.

Do you remember what happened to young fellow named Michael Kay? I think that’s a pretty good guess.
oops…that’s Michael Fay.
