N.K. defectors turned away from S.K. school?

Well, this doesn’t sound good:

SEOUL, Sept. 12 (Yonhap) — Nine people believed to be North Korean defectors were turned away after forcing their way into a South Korean international school in China on Monday morning, a local civic group that supports defectors said.

The group, including a seven-year-old child and a one-year-old baby, entered the South Korean international school in Tianjin, northeastern China at around 10:40 a.m. Monday, requesting passage to South Korea, the activists said.

Unexpectedly, however, the school principal ordered his officials to haul them out about one hour later, they said, adding that the alleged defectors were now hiding at an undisclosed location.

The expulsion is unusual, if they are proved to be North Koreans, since most North Korean defectors who sought asylum in South Korean international schools in China were allowed to travel to South Korea as requested.

The principal claimed he took the measure because the people did not identify themselves as North Korean defectors when they entered his office. They also did not request passage to South Korea, he insisted.

I think Korea’s only duty is to do good and let God take care of the rest.

    Well, that answers my question

Yesterday, I wondered if we’d hear anything further about the situation of the nine North Koreans that entered the South Korean international school in China. To find out the outcome, just head over to The Marmot’s Hole (hint - don’t

“..didn’t identify themselves as north korean defectors”…..what else would they be? a group of half starved people speaking korean and asking for passage to SK…….perhaps they were just some lost SK tourists, and he obviously has no obligation to assist them.

The principal was just toeing the party line…the group of nine was too large for the South Koreans to handle.

Had they been juicy girls, the principal could have just sent them to Canada, where Eight is Enough!

The absolute worst thing that can happen to a Korean is being betrayed by his own people, other Koreans.

Rowan:??..didn??t identify themselves as north korean defectors?????..what else would they be?

China has it’s own population of ethnic Koreans, some of whom contribute to Korea’s illegal alien population. I suspect the group were North Koreans but they might not be.
