Till the 90??s, South Korea still third world. It remains much smaller than Japan and yet gives far more. All a waste of time.

well, bredan, you’ve posted more than i have ever seen before. it’s revealing for the obvious fact that you got your own inner resentments. the soldiers who fought in vietnam had to endure the hell of fighting in vietnam. did you? still further, the koreans in iraq are not where you are now, are they, big guy?

of course it’s impressive that the Mexican government would send all those troops despite the fact that the nation is separated from the United States by the Pacific Ocean and Mexico faces an imminent military threat from Democratic People’s Republic of Mexico. What’s more impressive is that Mexico is one of the 28 nations involved in nation building in Iraq.

Sending 3000 troops to Iraq — to huddle together uselessly on a base they never leave, instead meeremly being a placeholder so that Korean companies can profit from reconstruction contracts — is completely unrelated to disaster relief in Louisiana. So too is the deployment of half a million Korean mercenaries to fight in Vietnam (the U.S. paid these Korean soldiers 30 times their usual monthly wage, picked up the cost of all materiel and transportation, and Park Chung-Hee extracted additional economic aid to deploy a second division).
