A Clockwork Orange released in Korea

Speaking of big phalli, Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange has FINALLY been released in Korea on video tape (and DVD, I’d assume).

    That’s nothing. Last night KBS had “Coneheads” dubbed into Korean.

    The dubbing, in itself, was an act of violence.

    Hmmm. Last time I did some dubbing, many years ago, the ?????? told me that I wasn’t supposed to match the level of foulness… au contraire! We were supposed to tone it down… :-) Apparently things have changed, and is it for the better?

    Do you think this will force Koreans into anti establishment patterns?

    I don’t think it will trouble the the upper sections of dvd sales and rental charts somehow. Good film from a great book though.

    I’d imagine it was hard work for whoever did the Hangul subtitles.

    The film’s implied prediction of the future “hoolganism” has been borne out, with one exception.

    Instead of a love for classical music themes, we ended up with gangster rap. It’s worse than even the farsighted Mr Kubrick could have imagined.

    Shouldn’t any farsighted credit go to Anthony Burgess rather than Stanley Kubrick?
